This module includes the following teachware pack course material; module pre-test assessment, assessment of prior learning, student study guide, post-test assessment, student workbook, an instructor’s guide, and the text book Microsoft Office For Windows Simplified which is used as the basis of the practical work in each assignment.
This module leads the student in a step-by-step manner through the subject areas of Microsoft Word (word processing) and Microsoft Excel (spreadsheets). The areas covered in the use of Microsoft Word include:
●Entering text.
●Editing text.
●Saving and opening documents.
●Dealing with multiple documents.
●Previewing and printing documents.
●Formatting characters and paragraphs.
●Page and section setup.
●Creating and formatting a table.
As well as the areas given above, the students perform task-based assignments on Microsoft Word which are employed to ensure that they have understood the work
completed in previous assignments.
The areas covered in the use of Microsoft Excel include:
●Handling data.
●Using formulas and functions.
●Adding, copying and errors.
●Rows and columns.
●Formatting a worksheet.
●Dealing with multiple worksheets.

As well as the areas given above, the students perform task-based assignments on Microsoft Excel which are employed to ensure that they have understood the work completed in previous assignments.
The pre-test assessment included with the module teachware pack, together with the lesson module template, allow the instructor to determine whether the student has the pre-requisite knowledge to complete this study module. If the student fails the pre-test, the instructor can arrange remedial work which the student will need to complete before this module can be started. The assessment of prior learning determines whether all the assignments within this module need be
attempted, or whether the student has necessary prior knowledge to omit any assignment. The study guide leads the student through the thirty assignments.
Each assignment incorporates hands- on practical activities and continuous assessment. The assignments are based upon pre-determined performance objectives that are then tracked by the management system.
