All Wizards characters, character names, and their distinctive likenesses are the property of Wizards of the Coast, Inc. 2 A rogue who masters this weapon can treat it as a dagger for the purposes of the Rogue Weapon Talent class feature. A rogue skilled in the kukri can handle it like a dagger for the purposes of the Rogue Weapon Talent feature.
Light Pick of War: This smaller version of the pick of war is suitable as a hand weapon. A rogue skilled with the dagger may treat it as a dagger for the purpose of the Rogue Weapon Talent class feature. The first box given in the damage column of the table for a dual weapon is for the main (or main) edge of the weapon; The second damage diet is for the secondary (or out of use) end.

When a giant lizard rider makes a flash attack on a target, the lizard can make a claw attack against the same target. A seahorse rider deals an additional 1d10 damage when attacking after a seahorse attack. While in water, the rider also gains a +2 bonus on attack rolls against creatures without swim speed.
While in water, the seahorse gains a +2 bonus to attack rolls against creatures without swimming speed. These items enhance a mount's abilities in combat, usually by increasing its speed, increasing its defenses, or allowing the mount to avoid certain terrain features. Unlike heavy armor, heavy barding does not negate a horse's Dexterity or Intelligence bonus to AC.

A vehicle needs a driver or a pilot - a character or creature that spends actions to control the vehicle. If no character has taken control of the vehicle by the end of the deliverer's next turn, then the vehicle acts at the end of the launch order according to its out-of-control rules. Moving a vehicle does not provoke random attacks against the vehicle or creatures occupying it.
The driver or pilot must use special actions to steer, move or stop the vehicle if they do not want the vehicle to go out of control. Creatures in the vehicle (and those in the vehicle or object it hits) take half damage. Attacks of Opportunity: Vehicle movement does not provoke attacks of opportunity against the vehicle or creatures on it.

ALCHEMYALCHEMY
Alchemical formulas are like rituals; they are usually written in a book or scroll. Alchemical formulas have a creation cost and time that the character creating an alchemical item must spend. The components used in alchemical formulas are the same as those used for rituals (PH 300).

The PCs' enchanted weapons, armor, and tools tell the story of how far they've come, the challenges they've faced, and, most importantly, that they survived those challenges and lived to brag about them. However, as characters level up, they may accumulate a surplus of magical items that become less and less relevant, less useful, and less distinctive. Excess items can be sold or disenchanted easily enough, but a player may want an item their character earns at first level to stay with them for their entire career.
Another might want to change or increase an existing item's power rather than claim a brand new item and ditch the old one. Another character might desire an item with a special history, or one that offers a built-in roleplaying hook. The rules in this chapter allow DMs and players to place and use magic items with greater ease—using them not just as treasure and tools, but as memorable elements of the game world.
UNIQUE ITEMS
UNIQUE ITEMS NIQUE ITEMSUNIQUE ITEMSNIQUE ITEMS
Magic is a strange and wonderful force, and the mysterious energy available in the world can change the people and objects it touches. The weapon can scream curses at its wielder's enemies during the first round of battle. A quirk may include a minor negative flaw, but it should never hinder or affect the item's usefulness, especially in combat.
Spending item levels as treasure (discussed later in this chapter) is one way to give the PCs some influence over the magic they carry. Another way is to create oddities not as a reflection of an item's history, but as an example of a PC's influence. This is especially appropriate when a player chooses to use. an item as an RPG hook, rewarding player and character alike for interacting with the game world in a meaningful way.
Such character-inspired items can even be reused in a new campaign after epic characters have passed into myth and immortality. When new PCs discover these legendary relics, the players whose characters were the item's original owners can have the satisfaction of seeing their roleplaying efforts live on. An item with an alignment can impose a minor penalty or disadvantage on a wearer of another alignment.
A magical weapon or tool may retain a portion of its full enhancement bonus, or a magical item's powers may fail at a critical moment. In the most extreme cases, an item may simply not work in the hands of a differently aligned character. Alignment incompatibilities should never be allowed to become a permanent barrier to a character's ability to use a magic item.
See Level Scaling below for suggestions on how to withhold a magical item's powers in a more balanced way.) Characters should always be given the opportunity to earn an item's full power.
ITEM LEVEL
The value of an item's enhancement bonus increase is equal to the difference in cost between the lower-level form and the higher-level form of the item. This value must be subtracted primarily from the magical items given out during an adventure, with only a small portion coming from gold or other monetary treasures. For example, a PC with +1 delver armor may want to increase the effectiveness of that armor rather than seeking out another set of more powerful armor.
According to the table, that PC must be at a level suitable for using 6th-level items before such an increase can occur. The item level can therefore replace a 7th-level item normally placed as treasure (see Treasure Packages in Chapter 7 of the Dungeon Master's Guide), with the additional 120 gp taken from monetary treasure. Similarly, the increase in the armor's enhancement bonus can partially take the place of an 8th-level treasure (worth 3,400 gp), with the difference (680 gp) being made up by a 3rd-level magic item provided to the party used.
If a magic item increases its power through level scaling or granting item levels as treasure, the nature of this increase must be related to an empowering event. The transition points where new item powers are revealed should be triumphant moments for the wielder and the party as a whole—. Such events should let players and characters know that something about the affected item has changed.
A being from another plane might arrive to reward the PCs for service, imbuing the item in question with newfound power. Perhaps the death of a powerful enemy imbues the party with supernatural energy that fuses into the weapon that defeated the enemy. An eldrew font uncovered at the climax of an adventure can imbue a single item with greater power.
Be that as it may, the effect of raising the level of a magical item should be both impressive and obvious.
ENCHANTING ITEMS
Magic
Likewise, the properties and powers of magic items cannot be stacked, so a character cannot imbue a suit of clay armor with the property and power of sunleaf armor as well. The holy symbol taken from a fallen enemy has incredible power, but the party's cleric of Pelor does not like to clutch a symbol of Vecna while praying. The Magic Transfer Ritual helps you customize magic items by moving spells from one magic item to another.
With great care and concentration, you carefully remove magical power from one item to imbue it into another. The receiving item must occupy the same magic item slot (head, waist, armor, and so on) and be of the same type (staff, pole, weapon, and so on) as the original item. The enchantment to be moved must be valid for the receiving item, so you can't transfer ranged weapon properties to melee weapons, fabric-only armor properties to chain mail, and so on.
You can transfer an enchantment to an item that already contains a lower-level enchantment, but the receiving item's previous enchantment is lost. For example, the enhancement bonus and power of a suit of leather +1 (5th level) can be placed on a suit of cursed scale +1 (3rd level), but the existing power of scale armor lose by doing so.
