The research questions of this research were: How the improvement of the students’ speaking accuracy throughBridging Question Strategy at the first grade of SMP Negeri 2 Benteng Kabupaten Kepulauan Selayar? How the improvement of the students’ speaking fluency through Bridging Question Strategy at the first grade of SMP Negeri 2 Benteng Kabupaten Kepulauan Selayar?
The researcher used A Classroom Action Research (CAR). The aims of this research are to find out the improvement of students’ ability in speaking ability through Bridging Question Strategy. Two cycles had been conducted, where each cycle consisted of four meetings. It employed speaking test as instrument. A number of subjects of the research were 20 students at Class VII-C of SMP Negeri 2 Benteng, Selayar Regency conducted of 11 women and 9 men.
The researcher took real data from the school to know the students’ speaking ability.
The results of the student's speaking test in cycle 1 and cycle 2 had increased in different scores. There was increasing by students at the end action of second cycle. The research findings indicated that use of Bridging Question Strategy could increase the students’speaking skill. The means scores of students in Diagnostic test was 4.70. Became 47.50 in cycle 1, and after revision in the cycle 2 the mean score in cycle 2 was 71.00. By implemented of Bridging Question Strategy. The result of the students activeness in the first meeting of cycle I was 58.70% then it became 95.00% in the fourth meeting of cycle II. This result showed the students improvement in speaking accuracy and speaking fluency through Bridging Question Strategy.
