EDUCATIONAL VALUES IN SPIDER-MAN HOMECOMING MOVIE

ABSTRAK
Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk menemukan nilai-nilai edukasi dalam film.
Penelitian ini adalah penelitian kualitatif yang menggunakan movie script dari film Spider-Man Homecoming. Sebagai bahan analisa adalah nilai-nilai pendidikan apa saja yang terdapat dalam film Spider-Man Homecoming. Peneliti melihat dan memahami nilai-nilai edukasi yang ada didalam film Spider-Man Homecoming, kemudian peneliti menentukan nilai-nilai edukasi yang dipilih kedalam kategori berdasarkan kejadian cerita. Setelah itu, peneliti menganalisa nilai-nilai pendidikan yang telah ditentukan dengan menggunakan kondensasi data, peyajian data, dan penarikan kesimpulan. Data penelitian ini adalah nilai-nilai pendidikan yang terdiri atas delapan belas nilai-nilai edukasi berdasarkan teori dari KEMENDIKNAS. Peneliti merangkum bahwa pada film Spider-Man Homecoming terdapat tujuh nilai pendidikan dan sebelas nilai pendidikan tidak terdapat di dalam film Spider-Man Homecoming. Diantaranya yaitu tujuh nilai-nilai pendidikan berisi: kerja keras, kreatif, rasa ingin tahu, apresiasi-prestasi, cinta tanah air, sosial dan tanggung jawab. Penelitian ini memberikan nilai-nilai edukasi yang ada di dalam film Spider-Man Homecoming.

INTRODUCTION
Literature is one of significant parts of a society language, because literature usually tells about human life and their society or culture which written by the author through their thinking and language. Literature is used to describe anything from creative writing to more technical or scientific work, but the type is most commonly used to works of the
creative imagination. It is works of poetry, drama, fiction, and nonfiction.
Movie is a part of literary that is built through elements of intrinsic and exstrinsic elements. The integration of these elements, makes the reader take many lessons in the role of life.
However, extrinsic element of literature is about the things that can be found outside the story itself. It is not the material but the fact and
information that supports and surrounds the story. It may be, tells about the author’s life, social background, historical background, cultural background, biography and psychological condition in society.
Then, intrinsic element of literature usually be found inside the story itself.
It may be, tells about the character, plots, setting, theme, point of view, scene, figure of speech and educational value. In this research, educational values can be shown with the event of story in the movie.
Education values in literary works can provide motivation for the reader in living life. One of the literary works depicting the educational values in life is the film of Spider-man Homecoming.
Spider-Man Homecoming a movie American superhero film based on the Marvel Comics character Spider-Man, co-produced by Columbia Pictures and Marvel Studios, and distributed by Sony Pictures Releasing. The film is directed by Jon Watts. The story about young Peter Parker returns home to live with his Aunt May.
Under the watchful eye of mentor Tony Stark, Parker starts to embrace
his newfound identity as Spider-Man.
He also tries to return to his normal daily routine distracted by thoughts of proving himself to be more than just a friendly neighborhood superhero.
Peter must soon put his powers to the test when the evil Vulture emerges to threaten everything that he holds dear.
One of the example educational values in this movie is hard work..
When Peter Parker was trapped in a building. He had to find the way out and tried to break the secured fault gate’s code. Peter Parker did not give up and had tried 247 times of trials to break the gate’s code until he succeed.
In conclusion, it is included on educational values of hard work through Peter parker’s determination that never give up to face some challenge and have good problem solving.
Based from the phenomena above, the researcher catches some points about educational value. There are some types of educational values that can be learned more. Then, many of educational value will be learn movie exist today, but people cannot always catches the meaning of it. It can be seen that the issues in this movie are
interesting to be explored. The researcher realized about the possibility of other educational values that exists in Spider-man Homecoming which need to be analyzed in order to find out types of educational values. Therefore, the researcher is interested and also wants to conduct a research about educational value in Spider-Man Homecoming movie and use some of the latest research about educational value as references.
Educational value is a personal characteristic. It matters relating to the prohibition and action whether it is right or wrong. Furthermore, the researcher have to realize that educational value is very important in the process of education. Nowadays, the government emphasize to create good character for students through giving the values that have related to the education because, it is very important for the students to be a good people.
According Central Board of Secondary Education (2012),
“education values is a complex, multidimensional concept the material included must be read with the spirit of continuous reflection on issue of
concern rather than hasty rejection if does not fit into ones conceptualization or behavior repertoire”.
Based on the explanation above, people can apply educational values in daily life. The researcher have to realize that educational value is very important in the process of education to create good character for students through giving the values that have related to the education because, it is very important for the students to be a good people. Therefore, based from these points, the researcher concludes that educational value can be applied in daily life with evaluate.
RESEARCH METHOD
Researcher uses qualitative research method showed with statistic procedures in analyzing the data and presented the data in form of description. Then, collected the data such as words and might picture, not numeral data. The reported consists of quotation was given the image of the reported. In a qualitative research method, the researcher made accurate explanation to analyze and present what are educational values were
found in Spider-Man Homecoming movie.
Bogdan and Taylor in Moleong (2010:4) defined qualitative research method as a research procedure that produced descriptive data in form of words, written or spoken, of the person who can be observed.
In this research, the researcher needed a movie as the source of data.
To help in understanding of this research, the researcher choose movie of Spider-Man Homecoming movie source of the data.
In collecting data, the researcher chose some techniques.
According to Endaswara (2013:163), there are several note-taking instructions that need to be done in literary research: a. need training and preparation of a researcher to be able to record carefully b. note things that portray messages and symbolic meanings c. data recorded with difficult words and possible semantic meaning. In note taking, has been accompanied by data selection or data reduction. The data that irrelevant to the research construct left behind.
While the relevant is emphasized, to
make it easier for researcher to determine the indicator.
In analyzing the data, the researcher chose Intuitive Contemplative methods, Besides, Ratna (2015:43), “Intuitive methods are regarded as the basic human ability in an effort to understand the elements of culture. Man understands culture through his thoughts and feelings. That is with intuition, interpretation of elements, and causation. The characteristic of intuitive methods is contemplation, an understanding of cultural phenomena by considering the balance between the individual and the universe”. In analyzing the data, the researcher analyzed the data.
Thus, the steps of data analysis in this research took from the techniques proposes by Miles and Huberman (2014:246),” argues that analysis of the data contain of three steps namely”. There are data condensation, data display and drawing and verifying conclusions.
FINDINGS AND DISCUSSION The goal of this research was to identify educational values found in
the Spider-Man Homecoming movie.
The researcher would analyze educational values in Spider-Man Homecoming movie based on theory by KEMENDIKNAS.
After analyzing the data, the researcher got the result of this research. In this research, the researcher found seven educational values.
The first, educational value is hard-work which found in two data.
1. Scene in minutes [00:57:53], the conversation happened in the secured fault when Peter Parker was trapped.
He had to find the way out and tried to break the secured fault gate’s code.
The conversation above showed that Peter Parker did not give up and had tried 247 times of trials to break the gate’s code until he succeed.
2. Scene in minutes [01:43:51], when Peter Parker was tricked into a trap by Adrian Toomes. Peter was tricked and he was knocked down by building ruins around him. He was stuck under it and cannot move. He asked for help but there was no one can help him.
Then, he decided to push the ruins up to save him from the ruins. It was really hard at the beginning, but he
believed in himself and never give up.
Finally, he succeed to escape from the ruins.
The second, educational values is creative which found 1 data.
1. Scene in minutes [01:03:27], happened when Peter Parker tried to save his friends who trapped in a lift of Washington monument tower that was about to fall. Peter was so confused and had to think about the way to save his friends. He tried to enter the tower by breaking the window which was protected by four-inch ballistic glass. Under the pressure, Parker finally had an idea to create a momentum by jumping over police’s helicopter and then he succeed to break the glass.
The third, educational values is curious which found two data
1. Scene in minutes [00:23:24], happened in Peter’s room when Peter enter the room with Spiderman suit.
Ned was shocked when he found that his friend is the famous Spiderman. It caused Ned asking many question to know more about Peter as Spiderman.
2. Scene in minutes [00:43:23], In a laboratory, Peter and Ned inspected a weird weapon. Peter found that the
weapon was created by combining alien and human tech. It made Peter wanted to know more about who the creator of the weapon was.
The fourth, educational values is Loving-homeland which found one data.
1. Scene in minutes [00:37:34], when Tony talked to Peter about his mission. Tony asked Peter to focus in helping little people. In conclusion, Tony Stark request for Peter to help and care about little people around him.
The fifth, educational values is Appreciating-achievement which found three data.
1. Scene in minutes [00:08:17], Peter Parker had finished his job in helping Tony at Stark internship. Tony speak in Peter’s video diary and told May (Peter’s aunt) that everyone at was impressed of Peter’s internship at Stark tower.
2. Scene in minutes [00:18:22], Peter had done a mission in saving bicycle theft. He was rewarded a Churro from a Dominican lady for his work
3. Scene of the movie [01:59:38], Tony was impressed by Peter’s job.
He gave peter a reward by showing a
new suit and told that he wanted to introduce Peter as the new member of Avengers. Although that Peter refused the reward from Tony, but Tony’s reward for Peter.
The sixth, educational values is social which found three data.
1. Scene in minutes [00:16:50], Peter Parker helped another people by taking back the stolen bicycle and catch the thief. He did not know who the bike owner was and decided to write a not for the owner.
2. Scene in minutes [00:17:37], Peter Parker helped another people by preventing a car thief. With all of his power, he fight with the thief and succeed to prevent him. In conclusion, the event when Peter Parker catch and prevent the car thief.
3. Scene in minutes [00:20:31], Peter Parker (Spiderman) effort in saving Mr. Delmar life. The store was burned and Mr. Delmar was trapped in it. Peter realized about it and decided to save Mr. Delmar. With all of his braveness, he finally saved Mr.
Delmar life.
4. Scene in minutes [02:18:19], Peter Parker really cared about his friends and wanted to save all of them. Even
in dangerous situation, Peter Parker still wanted to help all of his friends.
In conclusion, the event when Peter Parker help his friends trapped in the lift of tower is social help on each other.
The seventh, educational values is responsibility which found two data.
1. Scene in minutes [00:11:43], Ned (Peter’s friend) asked Peter to join him in building the new Star Wars Lego. Peter was so interested because he also loved Lego but he rejected Ned because he already had a duty on his internship with Stark Industry.
2. Scene in minutes [00:13:47], Peter Parker wanted to focus on his Stark internship and it made him wanted to quit from every school clubs that he followed. In conclusion, the event when Peter Parker decided for would not join with National competition preparation of quiz club with his school team, because had to focus with his work in Stark internship.
CONCLUSION
People can apply educational values in daily life. The researcher have to realize that educational value
is very important in the process of education. Nowadays, the government emphasize to create good character for students through giving the values that have related to the education because, it is very important for the students to be a good people.
Based on the theory of KEMENDIKNAS (2010:9) there are eighteen educational values such as:
religious, tolerant, dicipline, hard work, creative, independent, ddemocratic, curious, spirite nationality, loving homeland, aappreciating achievement, communicative, love-peace, like to read, environment care, social and responsibility.
Based on the finding, the researcher used qualitative research method and movie of Spider-Man Homecoming movie as data source.
Besides, to collect the data, the researcher the necessary steps of collect the data could be seen as follows: a. need training and preparation of a researcher to be able to record carefully b. note things that portray messages and symbolic meanings c. data recorded with difficult words and possible semantic
meaning, and wrote educational values in Spider-Man Homecoming movie. Furthermore, in analysis the data, the researcher used technique such as data condensation, data display, and conclusion drawing/verification.
However, on analysis above, it answered about all of the research questions in this research, there were twelve educational values in eighteen datum based on KEMENDIKNAS theory. The researcher found seven educational values in eighteen data such as: hard work, creative, curious, loving-homeland, appreciating achievement, social, and responsibility. Besides, eleven educational values not found in this movie with on theory such as:
Religious, honest, Tolerant, discipline, independent, democratic, discipline, independent, curios, spirit nationality and like to read.
