The effect of white soil on geopolymer mortar porosity (Conference Paper) (Open Access)

, , , ,

Department of Civil Engineering, Diponegoro University, Indonesia

Abstract

This study analysed the effect of white soil as a filler on geopolymer mortar. The materials used were fly ash, white soil from Kupang as fillers, sand, water, and NaOH as alkaline activator. The comparison of geopolymer mortar mixture was 1 Pca: 3 Sand with water factor 0.5. The Pca was composed by white soil and fly ash with alkaline activator and water. The percentage of white soil used were 5, 10, 15, 20, 25 and 30%. The white soil chosen passed the number 200 sieve. Moreover, the dimension of mortar used was 5 x 5 x 5 cm. To remove the water content from the mortar, the oven was set at 60 ×C for 24 hours until the mortar weight did not change. The result shows that porosity decreases with the increase of white soil percentage. Increase in the white soil percentage by 5, 10, 15 and 20% can reduce porosity by 0.9, 2.7, 2.5 and 2.9%. Nevertheless, the white soil , with a percentage of 25 and 30, increased porosity by 3.7 and 3.8%, respectively. This happened because in these percentages, the

white soil hardens faster than the other percentages, impacting the compaction process on the mould. © Published under licence by IOP Publishing Ltd.

Abstract

A study of constructability has recently become one of the research themes that has received much attention. Constructability can be defined as the application and integration of construction knowledge and experience to the process of planning, designing, procuring and implementing construction. The concept of constructability itself began and developed in the United States in the 1970s. In Indonesia, development in the field of construction services is a priority, especially for infrastructure development.

The process of construction work can't be separated from the process of planning and implementing construction which is part of the concept of constructablity. Abstract

Rainfall is one of the factors of slope failures due to the intensity of rainfall that will seep and increase the moisture content of geo-materials. One of the important role in slope stability is matric suction. This study present the relationship between rainfall and suction of soil which induced the slope instability and the slope stability analysis involving a building which may cause by instability due to suction variation. The slope had separated into three parts which are top of slope, middle of slope and toe of slope. Every part has been inserted with three tensiometer with 0.3 m, 0.45 m and 0.9 m depth. Suction of soil on slope was carried out by using tensiometer. Intensity of rainfall was collected by using rain This site uses cookies. Abstract

Steel moment frames have been widely used for earthquake-resistant purposes. These systems possess significant ductility, however, excessive deformation due to the lower structural stiffness. In order to improve the behavior of moment-resisting frames when subjected to cyclic loads, a new design that combined steel curved damper and brace member was proposed in this study. The curved damper was cut from steel plate and was placed in the center portion of the brace member. The new device was attached to the frame and was used to dissipate energy throughout the load application. A series of loading tests on steel frames strengthened with the proposed design were carried out. The strength and This site uses cookies.
