PREFACE

The main sentence of our paper, of course, we address to Allah swt. our most merciful god who gave us strength, patience, fortitude, extraordinary teamwork and briefness.

Of course we are also very grateful for ourselves, who are willing to take the time, energy and thoughts to discuss about the theories that each of us have studied and read beforehand.

And in the preparation of this paper, of course, there are challenges and questions that we have to solve together, However, we must be professional as a team and as a student. Because whatever we do today, there must be benefits for tomorrow And what is impossible for us, if we mention the name of Allah swt. Everything we do will feel lighter and easier if we mention the name of Allah swt.

We as students who are still in the process and learning stage certainly do not escape mistakes in making this paper entitled "Emosional Intelegent". Therefore, we really hope that our readers will give us positive suggestions and criticisms. In order to improve the quality of the preparation of better papers in the future and hopefully the papers that we have compiled and made in this way can be a charity for us later and useful knowledge for anyone who reads it.

CHAPTER II DISCUSSION

A. Definition of Emotion

According to Goleman (1999: 7), the origin of the word emotion is movere, a Latin verb meaning "to move, move", plus the prefix "e-" to give the meaning of "moving away", implying that the tendency to act is absolute in emotions, emotions provoke action and the root of the urge to act in solving a problem immediately. According to Goleman (2002: 45) emotional intelligence refers to the ability to motivate oneself and persevere in the face of frustration, control impulses and not exaggerate pleasure, regulate mood and keep the burden of stress from paralyzing the ability to think, and empathize. Cooper and Sawaf (in Efendi, 2005: 172) define emotional intelligence as below: Emotional Intelligence is the ability to sense, understand, and effectively apply the power and acumen of emotions as a source of human energy, information, connection, and influence. According to Salovey and Mayer (in Goleman, 2003: 513) emotional intelligence is the ability to monitor and control one's own and others' feelings, and to use those feelings to guide thoughts and actions.

Emotional intelligence is the ability to legitimately reason with emotions and use emotions to enhance thinking. EQ (Emotional Intelligence) as the capacity to reason about emotions, and use emotions to enhance thinking. It includes the ability to accurately understand emotions, to access and generate emotions so as to aid thought, to understand emotions and emotional knowledge, and to reflectively regulate emotions so as to promote emotional and intellectual growth.

Emotional intelligence refers to the ability to recognize the meaning of emotions and their relationships, and to reason and solve problems on their basis. Emotional intelligence involves the capacity to feel emotions, assimilate feelings of related emotions, understand information from emotions, and manage them.

2. Intelligence

In this model, intelligence refers to the capacity to reason legitimately about information.

As said by Doug Lennick, an executive vice president at American Express Financial Services (in Goleman, 2003: 36) that what is needed for success starts with intellectual skills, but people need emotional skills to utilize their potential talents to the fullest, so emotional intelligence can help a person in using his cognitive abilities in accordance with his maximum potential.

So from the above it can be concluded that emotional intelligence is an aspect that is very much needed in the field of our daily lives both in the family, school and community environment. In addition, it is emotional intelligence that motivates us to seek benefits, potential and change it from what we think to what we do.

B. Components of Emotion

The components of emotional intelligence include several things, among which are ; A. Self-Awareness

Knowing how we feel in a moment and using it to guide our decision-making for ourselves has a reality check on our abilities and strong self-confidence..

B. Self-regulation

Handling our emotions in such a way that they have a positive impact on the execution of tasks, being sensitive to our hearts and being able to delay enjoyment before achieving a goal, being able to recover from emotional distress.

C. Motivate

The ability to use our deepest desires to drive and demand us toward our goals, to help us take initiative and act highly effectively and to persevere in the face of failure and frustration.

D. Empathy

Feeling what others feel, being able to understand their perspectives, fostering trusting relationships and harmonizing with a wide range of people.

E. Social Skills

Handle emotions well when relating to others and carefully read social situations and networks, interact fluently using these skills influencing and leading, deliberating and resolving disputes and to work in teams

(7)

C. Factors Affecting Emotional Intelligence

According to Goleman, there are two factors that influence emotional intelligence, namely:

1. Internal factors, which are factors arising from within the individual that are influenced by the state of one's emotional brain. The emotional brain is influenced by the amygdala, neocortex, limbic system, prefrontal lobe and things that are in the emotional brain.

2. External factors, namely factors that come from outside the individual and influence or change the attitude of external influences that are individual in nature can be individually, in groups, between individuals influenced by groups or vice versa, can also be indirect, namely through intermediaries such as mass media both print and electronic and sophisticated information via satellite services.

Meanwhile, according to Agustian (2007), the factors that influence emotional intelligence are: psychological factors, emotional training factors and educational factors.

1. Psychological factors

Psychological factors are factors that come from within the individual. These internal factors will help individuals manage, control, control and coordinate emotional states so that they are manifested in behavior effectively. According to Goleman (2007) emotional intelligence is closely related to the emotional brain state. The part of the brain that takes care of emotions is the limbic system. The limbic system is located deep in the hemispheres of the cerebrum and is primarily responsible for the regulation of emotions and impulses. Physiological improvement of emotional intelligence can be done by fasting. Fasting not only controls human physiological urges, but is also able to control the power of emotional impulses. One of the fasts in question is the Monday-Thursday fast.

itself. The clarity of the heart that is formed through fasting on Monday Thursday will present a clear inner voice as an important foundation for the development of emotional intelligence.

3. Education factor

Education can be one of the means of learning individuals to develop emotional intelligence. Individuals are introduced to various forms of emotions and how to manage them through education. Education does not only take place at school, but also in the family and community environment. The education system in schools should not only emphasize academic intelligence, separate the life of the world and the hereafter, and make religious teachings as rituals only. For example, the repeated implementation of the Monday-Thursday fast can form a religious experience that raises emotional intelligence. Fasting on Monday Thursday is able to educate individuals to have honesty, commitment, vision, creativity, mental resilience, wisdom, justice, trust, self-mastery or synergy, as part of the foundation of emotional intelligence.

D. Types of Emotional

Some examples of emotions:

1. Anger: violent, raging, hateful, annoyed, irritated.

2. Sadness: painful, sorrowful, gloomy, dismal, despairing.

3. Fear: anxious, nervous, worried, apprehensive, wary, uneasy, horrified.

CHAPTER III CLOSING A. CONCLUSION
