INTRODUCTION

English vocabulary mastery in early life is not only a gift, but it also forms the basis for the growth of young children's linguistic talents (Korat, 2010; Munir &

Warmansyah, 2023). During this developmental period, children not only learn the meanings of words, but also how to organize and express their own ideas (Karrass &

Braungart-Rieker, 2005). According to Jiang et al., (2021), children's language development is significantly impacted by this period. The vocabulary at this level helps them understand the English language and lays the groundwork for more sophisticated reading and communication skills (Fidyaningrum et al., 2021).

Early acquisition of English vocabulary lays a crucial basis for children's language development (Zauche et al., 2016). According to Janjua (2002), this stage entails structuring ideas in the language and developing concepts in addition to word recognition. Children who possess a strong vocabulary can communicate their ideas and emotions in a more vivid and concise way (Butarbutar et al., 2019). Thus, developing a strong vocabulary in english from an early age not only paves the way for increased literacy in the language, but it also serves as the cornerstone for efficient communication and imaginative self-expression (Hazar, 2022; Nuha & Munawaroh, 2022; Wulandani & Putri, 2022).

Many educational opportunities are available through various media platforms and online digital apps in this period of rapid growth of information and communication technology (Nur et al., 2020; Rambli et al., 2013; Sa’diah et al., 2022; I. P. Sari et al., 2023; Wahyuni et al., 2019). This technology comprises a wide range of media and internet platforms that are an essential aspect of daily living. Along with this advancement, digital applications such as Quizlet have become popular educational aids (Platzer, 2020). However, not all information regarding these apps is readily available, particularly for educators who may not completely comprehend the potential of constructing learning applications (Sanosi, 2018; Waluyo & Bucol, 2021).

According to Ahmed, (2016), the advancement of science and technology has a noteworthy influence on the area of education in addition to specific scientific domains.

The use of digital technology in education has become essential. Thanks to the development of educational technology, learning is now possible anywhere in the digital sphere in addition to in front of a teacher and textbooks (Anjaniputra & Salsabila, 2018). Utilizing digital technology, which includes Quizlet and other apps, has benefits for teaching and learning processes, information access, and the provision of useful learning resources (D. E. Sari, 2019).

The fast advancement of science and technology has resulted in the development of many tools and applications that may be utilized as teaching materials (Chen & Chan, 2019). This factor is especially important in today's educational setting, where instructors and students may use digital resources to maximize educational experiences (Wright, 2016). In this scenario, the Quizlet app shines out as an easy-to-use resource for helping youngsters improve their English vocabulary (Lobo, 2017).

According to Bueno-Alastuey & Nemeth, (2022), youngsters may enhance their vocabulary in english more easily by using the Quizlet program. The benefit of Quizlet is that it can be used as a stand-alone learning tool in addition to having gamification components that make learning enjoyable (Çinar & Ari, 2019). Quizlet offers an

engaging learning environment that can be customized to meet the requirements and interests of kids thanks to its diverse range of learning methods and features (Satria et al., 2017).

Even though the Quizlet app has been used and studied in a variety of learning environments, further study is urgently needed to determine how utilizing this app affects young children's acquisition of vocabulary in English (Abdullah Al-Malki, 2020). As a very important developmental stage, early childhood is unique in the way they understand and process information. Prior research, like that of Nguyen et al., (2021) has demonstrated the advantages of Quizlet for enhancing vocabulary comprehension. On the other hand, not much study has been done on applying this approach particularly to early childhood. Thus, by investigating the degree to which the Quizlet application might enhance early childhood English vocabulary acquisition, this study seeks to close this knowledge gap.

With all of its advantages and benefits, the Quizlet program looks to be a viable option for increasing early children's English vocabulary comprehension. The incorporation of Quizlet into the learning process opens up the potential to build a dynamic, entertaining, and student-centered learning environment. This study investigates the Quizlet application's enormous potential as an effective learning aid for enhancing English vocabulary at this important developmental period.

METHODS

This research adopts a quantitative approach in the form of a survey to measure the extent of utilizing the Quizlet application in enhancing the early English vocabulary of 5-6-year-old children. Quantitative data, presented in the form of percentages, was collected through a questionnaire adapted from relevant theories, focusing on the effectiveness and ease of using the application. Respondents, comprising 25 early childhood education (PAUD) teachers in the Limo Kaum District, Tanah Datar Regency, were selected through purposive sampling. Data collection was conducted through the distribution of a Google Form via a WhatsApp Group network of PAUD teachers.

The research instrument consists of 20 questionnaire items, accommodating two sub-indicators, namely the effectiveness of using the application and its ease of use.

Additional data sources include books, teaching materials, and direct observations during the learning process. Data analysis was performed using quantitative descriptive analysis to present the percentage values of the research findings.

Fig 2. The Quizlet apps Discussion

The integration of the Quizlet application for enhancing English vocabulary among early childhood learners, as depicted in the provided graphical representation, yielded remarkably positive outcomes. The research findings underscore the substantial positive responses from children, with the majority expressing agreement or strong agreement regarding its effectiveness and user-friendliness.

The implementation of the Quizlet application in enhancing English vocabulary for young children takes the form of questions related to various fields of knowledge, particularly education. This medium is available as a tool that can be downloaded on children's Android devices, providing a convenient and portable learning experience.

The questions within the Quizlet application are generally tailored for children during the teaching and learning process, significantly impacting the development of their English vocabulary by facilitating access to questions from their studied lessons

The utilization of Quizlet not only impacts children but also aids teachers in efficiently formulating questions for assessments. Teachers no longer need to manually create questions on paper; instead, they can directly type questions into the application, simplifying access to learning in schools (Pham, 2022). The characteristics of this learning medium include clear and concise material presentation that answers questions according to specific inquiries. The objectives of using Quizlet and its usage guidelines are clearly articulated, along with a well-defined learning process. The current importance of Quizlet is emphasized, especially as children increasingly use the internet

for learning rather than manually answering questions on paper (Wright, 2016). The use of Android devices assists children in improving their English vocabulary (Aprilani &

Suryaman, 2021).

The positive impact of Quizlet is evident in the ease of access to English language learning, aligning with the contemporary era of modern technology (Yulianto et al., 2021). Therefore, children need to effectively utilize Quizlet to enhance their English vocabulary, particularly in formal educational contexts (Sanosi, 2018). The research findings demonstrate the effectiveness of the Quizlet application in enhancing English vocabulary for young children. The application facilitates access to learning for children and supports teachers in assessing children's understanding of the studied material. The advantages of Quizlet include its ability to present questions clearly and provide easy access through mobile devices (Setiawan & Putro, 2021). The positive impact encompasses increased enthusiasm for learning English among children, especially in expanding their vocabulary. This learning medium is engaging for children, offering clear and easily understandable explanations.

CONCLUSION

The Quizlet apps has shown to be a great option for increasing English vocabulary in early childhood. This tool, in addition to providing a clear reference for children, streamlines the process of assessing instructors through Quizlet assessment.

Because of the emphasis on vocabulary growth, this app is useful in assisting youngsters in expanding their English vocabulary. Quizlet's game and practice elements not only make learning interesting, but also encourage active student participation, enhancing learning motivation. The key benefit for instructors is the simplicity with which they can assess student progress using integrated assessments in the app, allowing them to make necessary learning modifications. As a result, Quizlet is considered not only as an effective tool, but also as a valued companion in early English vocabulary learning.
