ABSTRACT

ETHICS FOR INFORMATION TECHNOLOGY PROFESSIONALS: THE FRAMEWORK DESIGN WITHIN INDONESIAN CONTEXT

IT professionals plays very important roles in supporting the use of T by people to improve their quality of life and productivity. On the other hand IT professionals also can contribute to problems for people as a result of misuse and misconduct of their knowledge and skills. This creates the need to have professional ethic for IT. This study asses the need for IT professionals ethics in Indonesia through literature study, comparative study and interpretive study. Subsequently this study proposes the framework for code of ethics based on comparative study with other professionals (non IT) in Indonesia and with IT professionals ethics in other countries. The findings of this study shows that the framework design for the IT professionals in Indonesia are consist of IT professional associations and IT users/beneficiaries that are influenced by tangible and intangible external factors.
