CONCLUSION

A PORTRAIT OF RELIGIOUS ACTIVITIES IN FACING COVID-19 PANDEMIC SITUATION

INTRODUCTION

Alongside religious organizations such as NU and Muhammadiyah, the Council of Indonesian Ulama (Majelis Ulama Indonesia (MUI)), being a fatwa-issuing constitution, issued Fatwana Number 14 of 2020 regarding the organization of worship in the situation of the outbreak of COVID-19.4 . Starting from this point, this article will explore several global problems related to the outbreak of COVID-19, starting with the discussion of how COVID-19 is viewed from the perspectives of Islamic studies, the urgency of the presence of religion in the treatment of the pandemic , the vital aspects in implementing government policies in the practice of the new normal era.

COVID-19 IN ISLAMIC STUDY PERSPECTIVE

  • Al-Qur’an
  • Hadith of Rasulullah pbuh (peace be upon him), such as
  • Fiqh Rules
  • URGENCY OF RELIGION PRESENCE IN HANDLING PANDEMIC
  • VITAL ASPECT IN FACING NEW NORMAL ERA

Likewise, it is not allowed to hold prayer activities that involve many people who are believed to be the medium of infection for COVID-19, such as the five obligatory congregational prayers, Tarawih and Eid prayer in the mosques or other public places, as well as participation in public recitation and Majlis Ta 'glue. In a state where the spread of COVID-19 is under control, Muslims are required to perform Friday prayers and are allowed to hold prayer activities that involve many people, such as the congregation's five obligatory prayers, Tarawih, Eid prayer in the mosques or other public places, as well as attending public recitation and Majlis Ta'lim by refraining from exposure to COVID-19.

CONCLUSION

Therefore, it will be wiser and more beneficial if we let the experts handle COVID-19 problems. Our lives are far more valuable than winning public debates about the handling of COVID-19.15. Pandemics are global public health problems, but they clearly have many dimensions as well as different local characteristics and affect many sectors of life: economy, politics, culture, including religious life.16 In a situation that is not completely normal, COVID-19 -19 -viruses have a profound impact on our world, but our answers can show how far we have come as a civilization.

We hope that with the tactical steps taken by the government, religious figures, grassroots organizations and the COVID-19 task force, we will face the new normal more seriously so that we can live as normal as we used to. 2020): COVID-19: A guide for governments working with faith leaders to support public health responses, Tony Blair Institute for Global Change.

COVID-19: Reflections on Thoughts from the Historical and Statistic Side

During the era of Rasulullah, there was a very deadly plague that appeared in the history of Muslims. People in the past had gone through similar circumstances and they were trying to get out of the plague, including the plague that happened during the era of the Prophet, which was quite disturbing at the time. As long as we can breathe, breathing fresh air in the morning can move all our organs, so be thankful.

If we go back to the beginning of the emergence of this outbreak, we assumed that this pandemic only happened abroad, more precisely, in the city of Wuhan, China. Based on the data, there's been a rise in the rise that hasn't even seen the peak so far.

Data of COVID-19 in Indonesia

Even based on the data obtained, the total number of COVID-19 confirmed patients until November was approximately 400,000 cases. The following is data on confirmed patients, deaths and recovered COVID-19 patients in Indonesia from March to November 2020 (Ardiyansyah, 2020). Spatial diversity is the structural instability (non-stationarity) of the relationship between predictors and response variables in space (location).

In addition to spatial analysis, time series analysis can also predict the number of COVID-19 patients and healthy patients. The COVID-19 pandemic has drastically changed various human activities from thought patterns to behavior patterns.

Reflections on The Mature Attitudes During the COVID-19 Pandemic from An Islamic Perspective

However, it is very unfortunate that while other countries struggled to fight the COVID-19 virus, several Indonesian government officials made very controversial statements. President Joko Widodo has also made confusing statements as the government tried to prevent the transmission of COVID-19 to other regions. Because of that statement, some people assumed the government had lost all hope of tackling the transmission of COVID-19.

The unknown writer of this message accuses the WHO and China of colluding together in issuing recommendations for COVID-19 bodies. The reason is that the officers who draw blood do not change their gloves so that even patients who have not contracted COVID-19 are infected.

RELIGIOUS AUTHORITY IN FACING COVID-19 PANDEMIC

Introduction

This appeal is established by considering the spread of COVID-19 and is implemented in accordance with the principles of emergencies in the midst of pandemic taken from the Al-Quran and Hadith held by the Muhammadiyah tarjih council [3]. Ironically, in Banda Aceh, the citizens still hold worship at mosques, although there have been positive cases of COVID-19 currently being treated at the Zainal Abidin Public Hospital. The results of BBC Indonesia's journalist investigation indicate that it is against the COVID-19 pandemic and some of jemaah said that they are not afraid of COVID-19; it should be a moment for the citizens to pray so that they are spared from COVID-19 [4].

What has happened here led to scholarly speculation as to whether this disobedience to the authority of the ulema' fatwas is a phenomenon of the ulema's inability to deal with COVID-19; or whether the Muslim symbolism of sacralism and propanity still clings to the implementation of Sharia in the midst of emergencies; or da'wah communication, Islamic teaching given to Muslims stops at the theological experience without being informed about the relevance of Islam to the technological, social, economic and political nuances. This essay will explore more about this theme, namely the religious authority in the midst of the COVID-19 pandemic in Indonesia.

THE ROLE OF ULEMAS IN FACING COVID-19

In the midst of the massive spread of coronavirus in Indonesia, religion should be in the front line and should help the government to reduce and break the chain of COVID-19, but the fatwas actually cause anxiety and are rejected by Muslims. The discovery of fatwâs between NU, MUI and Muhammadiyah continues to carry out the tradition of ijtihad with the methodology of ushul fiqh as the main guideline. A number of fatwâs were produced by these three institutions in response to the current social changes.

In the context of the spread of the coronavirus in Indonesia, MUI, NU and Muhammadiyah as usual issue fatwas to overcome the coronavirus and fatwas regarding religious activities during the COVID-19 pandemic in Indonesia. Some of the fatwas of the ulama during the outbreak of COVID-19 can be summarized as follows: (1) MUI Fatwa no. 1 of 2020 on the prohibition of congregational prayers for Muslims during the coronavirus pandemic [6]. 2) Fatwa MUI no. 18 of 2020 on Muslim Governance Guidelines.

THE DILEMMA BETWEEN RELIGIOUS AUTHORITIES AND FULFILLING SHARIA OBLIGATIONS

Ma'ruf Amin, stated that ulemas had strategic value in mobilizing Muslims to observe the prevention of COVID-19 transmission [9]. KH Mukhotob, MM, the chancellor of Wonosobo Al-Qur'an University (Unsiq) stated that there had been a theological conflict in the Islamic community in responding to the ulema's fatwas on dealing with COVID-19 and keeping worship during the COVID-19 pandemic in Indonesia. The weakness of the authority of the ulemas amid the COVID-19 pandemic is evident in the outcome of the webinar discussion on April 20, 2020, themed "Religious Authority Amid Rising Coronavirus Cases".

What the ulemas of MUI, NU, Muhammadiyah appealed to through the COVID-19 countermeasures fatwâs and prayer guidelines are already appropriate. Bagaimana Islam Memandang Pandemic COVID-19, https://www.uii.ac.id/bagaimana-islam-memandang-pandemi-covid-19/.

COVID-19 as a Form of Love from Allah

People who use their minds and hearts will know that COVID-19 is from Allah and it must contain immense wisdom and benefits. Except for the true believers, they will only see COVID-19 in terms of threats and dangers. We all know that the size of the COVID-19 virus is significantly smaller than a mosquito.

Because of the COVID-19 pandemic, Allah has ordered many people to become better people, namely those who realize that this pandemic is a warning from Allah. Finally, the existence of the COVID-19 outbreak, if viewed with the right perspective, will make us better human beings, whether for other people or for all of nature (Rahmatan Lil' Alamin).

Lack of Public Awareness during The COVID-19 Pandemic

Many steps have been taken by the government to solve the COVID-19 pandemic. Meanwhile, the public's perception of the possibility of contracting COVID-19 can be seen in Figure 3. There is no human being who wants this pandemic of COVID-19 to appear in the world.

Remember that implementing health protocols is a form of effort to prevent the infection of COVID-19 as Allah SWT says in Q.S. Retrieved from nasional.kompas.com: https://nasional.kompas.com/read enam-bulan-pandemi-covid-19-sulitnya-mengubah-perilaku-masyarakat?page=all.

Indonesian News About COVID-19: The Hope and Reality

We decided to use the same number of topics because we wanted to compare the topics in the headings and paragraphs. Based on Table 2, the topics related to COVID listed in the headline are vaccination, the increasing number of COVID-19 cases, a prominent condition update, and the use of Pfizer vaccine. The 2D graph of the items as visualized in Figure 3 is obtained using two principal components (PC1 and PC2).

Based on the results of the theme extraction analysis, there are four themes for both headings and paragraphs. The three topics in the paragraph are the same as the headline topics, except for preparing for the holidays.

Indonesian Mobility Visualization during COVID-19 Pandemic

Based on Figure 2., it can be concluded that East Java is the province with the highest mortality rate for COVID-19 patients in Indonesia, followed by Jakarta in second place. From the image above, it can be concluded that on November 13 and December 3 there was an increase in the number of positive patients compared to recovered patients. Furthermore, it will be shown whether there is a relationship between the mobility of the population in the workplace and the new confirmed cases.

However, the province of Jakarta experienced a significant drop in the number of new COVID-19 patients in the last week of October, in line with a decline in population mobility in the workplace. This is similar to East Java; it experienced a decline in the last week of October.
