MOUSE

(9)

MOUSE

Mouse is a device that is rolled about on a desktop mouse pad and directs a pointer on the computer’s display screen

How Mouse Works

A computer mouse detects surface movements using optical or laser sensors, processes this data, communicates it to the computer, and enables cursor control and button-based interactions with the graphical interface.

Components Of Mouse

A computer mouse consists of an exterior shell, buttons (left, right, middle/scroll), a scroll wheel, an optical or laser sensor, a microcontroller, a cable (wired mice), or a wireless transceiver and battery (wireless mice)

TOUCH SCREEN

How Touch Screen Works

Touchscreens work by detecting the location of a user's touch. Common technologies include capacitive (based on electrical charge disruptions), resistive (pressure-

sensitive layers), infrared (interrupted infrared beams), and surface acoustic wave (ultrasonic waves disrupted by touch). These technologies enable touch input in various devices, from smartphones to kiosks.

A touch screen is a video display screen that has been sensitized to receive input from the touch of a finger

PEN INPUT

(16)

PEN INPUT

Pen input is a method of interacting with a digital device or touchscreen using a stylus or digital pen instead of a traditional mouse or keyboard. The stylus is typically used to draw, write, tap, or perform various actions on the device's

screen, providing precise control and handwriting recognition capabilities.

Light Pen

Digitizer

Digital Pen

The light pen is a light-sensitive penlike device that uses a wired connection to a computer terminal

A digitizer uses an electronic pen or a mouselike copying

device called a puck that can convert drawings and photos to digital data

A digital pen is a writing instrument that allows users to write on paper and send the writing as an image file to the computer.

SCANNER

Scanners is equipment to translate images of text, drawings, photos, and the like into digital form

How Scanner Works

A scanner works by capturing an image or document using optical sensors. It

illuminates the source, records the reflected light or color information, and converts it into a digital format that can be saved, edited, or printed on a computer.

Dots and bitmaps

Dots and bitmaps scanners are terms used interchangeably. They refer to a type of scanner that captures images by breaking them down into tiny dots or pixels. Each dot's color or shade is represented as a binary value (0 or 1) in a bitmap, creating a digital image.

(20)

SCANNER

Resolution

resolution refers to the clarity and sharpness of an image andis measured in dots per inch (dpi)—the number of columns and rows of dots per inch

Type Of Scanner

Dekstop scanner, flatbed scannere sheet-fed, handheld, and drum

BARCODE READER

Bar-code readers are photoelectric (optical) scanners that translate the symbols in the bar code into digital code

FAX MACHINE

A fax machine is an electronic hardware device used for transmitting and receiving documents and images in the form of electronic data over telecommunications

channels.

How It Works?

A fax machine scans a document, converts it into digital data, and transmits it over a telephone line. At the receiving end, another fax machine decodes the data, prints it onto paper, and reproduces the original document. It essentially sends images of documents over long distances.

AUDIO INPUT (MIC)

is an audio transducer that converts sound waves, such as spoken words or musical instruments, into electrical signals that can be processed,

amplified, recorded, or transmitted.

WEBCAM

Webcam a video camera attached to a computer to record live moving images that can then be posted on a website in real time.

How It Works?

A webcam captures video and sometimes audio in real-time. It uses a sensor to convert light into an electronic signal. This signal is then processed and transmitted to a computer via USB or other interfaces, allowing live video streaming, conferencing, or recording. For computer use, the signals that come from a VCR or camcorder must be converted to digital form through a special digitizing card—a video-capture card or simply video card —that is installed in the computer

VOICE RECOGNITION

(29)

SENSOR

A sensor is an input device that collects specific data directly from the environment and transmits it to a computer

How It Works?

A sensor detects physical changes or environmental conditions (like light, temperature, motion) and converts them into electrical signals. These signals are then processed to provide data or trigger responses in various electronic devices or systems.

RFID stands for "Radio-Frequency Identification." It is a technology

RFID

that uses radio waves to wirelessly identify and track objects or individuals by attaching or embedding RFID tags or chips to them

How It Works?

RFID (Radio-Frequency Identification) uses radio waves to read and capture data from RFID tags attached to objects. When activated by a reader device's radio signal, the tag transmits its unique information, allowing for identification and tracking of the object.

DISCUSSION SESSION

Q : Damai Wahyuni

What are the adventage and disadvantage of dumb terminal A:

Advantages:

• Cost-Effective: Dumb terminal keyboards are generally less expensive to manufacture and maintain compared to modern computer keyboards.

• Durability: These keyboards are often built to be sturdy and can withstand heavy usage over extended periods.

• Longevity: Dumb terminal keyboards can have a longer lifespan

• Compatibility: They are designed for specific tasks or systems,

• Security: With no local processing power or storage, dumb terminals are less susceptible to software attacks and data breaches.

Disadvantages:• Limited Functionality

• Lack of Portability: They are typically stationary and tethered to a central computer, limiting their mobility.

• Reduced User Experience

• Limited Use Cases:

• Dependence on Central System.

DISCUSSION SESSION

Q : M. Ikhsan Pasaribu

What are your views on the use of traditional keyboards with modern keyboards, and what are your views on traditional keyboards which are starting to be replaced by mechanical keyboards?

A :

Traditional keyboards usually have a larger size than modern keyboards because traditional keyboards have a lot of buttons, while the buttons on modern keyboards are more

economical, and the comfort of using modern keyboards is better than traditional

keyboards, mechanical keyboards usually offer comfort in use to users so that people who using a keyboard will be more pampered, so the development of keyboards is inevitable, if traditional keyboards disappear later, it means technology is developing in a good direction

DISCUSSION SESSION

Q : Kurnia Ramadhan

What will happen if one of the components of the digital camera experiences an error?

A :

input consists of 2 things, namely light and sound, if there is an error in the sound input, the camera will produce a bad image or not even produce an image at all, if an error occurs in the sound, the sound produced will be bad, but this can be circumvented by using external microphone
