ABSTRACT

This study aims to explore and identify Fusarium sp. isolated from rice cultivation areas in the Ponorogo region. Fusarium sp. constitutes a genus of plant pathogenic fungi capable of causing severe diseases in various crops, including rice. The research seeks to comprehend the presence and diversity of Fusarium sp. within the local agricultural environment.

The research methodology involves the collection of soil and rice plant samples from multiple cultivation sites across the Ponorogo region. Subsequently, these samples are isolated and cultured on specialized media to facilitate the growth of Fusarium sp. Once sufficient growth is achieved, the Fusarium sp. isolates are identified based on morphological and microscopic characteristics. Furthermore, molecular techniques such as PCR may be employed to confirm the identification more precisely.

The findings reveal a variety of Fusarium sp. types within various rice cultivation locations in the Ponorogo region. Morphological and microscopic identification provides preliminary insights into potential species present, while molecular techniques offer detailed and accurate

information. Data concerning the distribution and diversity of Fusarium sp. in this area are pivotal for a comprehensive understanding of disease risks to rice crops and the development of appropriate control strategies.

This study offers novel insights into the presence of Fusarium sp. in rice cultivation areas in the Ponorogo region. The practical implications entail the necessity for intensified monitoring of potential fungal disease outbreaks and the formulation of effective control methods to safeguard rice productivity in the region. Further research can delve into a deeper understanding of the biological attributes and ecological behavior of Fusarium sp. in the context of local agriculture.
