BACKGROUND
Determining the economic potential of a region is not easy because each region has different potentials including natural resources, geographical conditions, and regional-specific potentials. Regional economic development is the process by which local governments and communities work together to manage existing resources and form partnerships between local governments and the private sector to create new jobs and spur regional economic development. To facilitate the process of development and development of economic potential, local governments must have a good strategy and manage existing resources wisely.

ANALYSIS METHOD
1. Overlay Analysis
Overlay analysis is an extension of the LQ and MRP analysis methods where the purpose of its use is to determine the potential of each economic sector in a region based on the superiority of the contribution value and growth ratio.
2. Klassen Typology Analysis
Klassen Typology analysis is used to identify the economic condition of a region based on the average value of per capita income and the average value of economic growth. Identifying the condition of the economic sectors of a region based on the average value of contribution and the average value of sector growth, as well as identifying the condition of the economic sectors of a region based on the value of the results of Overlay Analysis (LQ and MRP), Shift Share (Proportional Shift and Differential Shift), taking into account the wider regional economy as a reference area.

From the table above, it can be seen that in 2016-2020 the sectors that have the advantage of contribution and growth (+ +) in the economy of Agam Regency are the Agriculture, Forestry and Fisheries sectors (A) with a value 1,099558886. the other 7 sectors have neither contribution advantage (- -), namely Water, Procurement, waste management, waste (E) with a value 0,41582557, construction (F) with a value 0,668817658, Transportation and Warehousing (H) with a value 0,48175619, Information and Communication (J) with a value 0,738557546, Real Estat (L) with a value 0,762302822, Education Services (P) with a value 0,922139854, and Other Services (R, S, T, U) with a value 0,35632369.

Klassen Typology
Based on the above classification, quadran I is included in the category of economic sectors that make the region more advanced and grow rapidly. The economic sectors included in quadrant I are Electricity and Gas Procurement (D), Water Procurement, Waste Management (E), Construction (F), Transportation and Warehousing (H), Information and Communication (J), Corporate Services (M, N), Educational Services (P), and Other Services (R, S, T, U).
The Economic sector included in quadrant IV is Financial Services and Insurance (K).

Conclusions And Suggestions
The conclusion from the two analyses conducted to see the leading economic sectors in the Agam Regency area in 2016-2020, there are sectors that are well
able to encourage the regional economy of Agam Regency, namely the Agriculture, Forestry and Fisheries sectors (A). For other sectors, they are included in sectors that are still not good enough to encourage the economy of Agam Regency which still needs to be developed further.

Suggestions that can be conveyed based on the conclusions obtained, namely the Agam Regency government should continue to provide support to economic
sectors that can advance the economy of Agam Regency, namely provide facilities to economics actors in each sector so that they can support activities and increase the productivity of each sector, and evaluate and monitor sectors that can be
improved in order to boost the economy of Agam Regency
