Interdisciplinary art students invite public to exhibition 11/24/14

Students in Alfred University&s (AU) Interdisciplinary Art (IART) program, College of Liberal Arts and Sciences, have produced an exhibition featuring their work in the Brick Studios, located underneath the Brick Residence Hall.

The exhibition is open Thursday and Friday, Dec. 4 and 5 from noon- 5 p.m. The opening reception and exhibition days are open free of charge to the public.

The exhibit includes works of students in IART 101: Seeing, Perception, and Interpretation, taught by Beth Ann Dobie, associate professor of art theory and chairman of the Human Studies Division, and Dale Inglett, associate professor of art; and IART 103: Body, Time, and Movement, taught by Laurel Jay Carpenter, associate professor of art, and Dobie. The display will include works from the genres of drawing, painting, video art, and performance, and perhaps some installations from over 40 student artists.

Dobie earned a master of arts degree and Ph.D. from the University of Connecticut and a bachelor of arts degree from Southern Connecticut State University.

Carpenter holds a master of fine arts degree in sculpture and performance from the University of Connecticut and a bachelor of arts degree in English literature and art history from Tufts University.

Inglett earned a master of fine arts degree in studio art from Lamar Dodd School of Art at the University of Georgia- Athens and a bachelor of fine arts degree in studio art from Augusta State University (now Georgia Regents

University, Augusta, GA).
