F UNDAMENTALS
Starting an Interior Project
Within this framework, the process for establishing project goals and the format of the program wish list can vary widely. There are several types of contingencies, the percentages of the total estimate of which will change as the design evolves.
Project Management
It is usually due when the contract is signed and deducted from the project's final invoice. As the client's agent, the constructor must approve shop drawings and regularly visit the site during construction to ensure that the project is built according to the documents.
Drawing Basics
In the domestic honoring profession, the meaning of "to draw" takes many forms: It can refer to signature, to computer drawing, or even to photography and other methods of communication. Before the first line is drawn, the interior designer must understand the language of measurement.

Presentation and Communication
Everything an interior designer sends to the public should be considered a reflection of design practice. The following examples illustrate two of the ways in which a modular grid system can be implemented in a larger set of design boards. The careful development of a material palette is an integral part of the interior design process. There are many ways in which samples can be presented to reflect the professionalism of the designer. SPACE
Proportions of a Room
For example, the designer must consider the proportion of the wall space between windows as well as the proportion of the windows themselves when designing an interior view. The relative proportion of the shape of the wall and the shape of the window can be considered a more complex proportional relationship. The character and use of a room is strongly influenced by the proportion of the space.
In fact, it is one of the essential skills that every artist and designer must develop. To speak of a "beautifully-proportioned facade" indicates an acknowledgment of an overall balance between the proportions of the windows, the spaces between the windows and the proportion of the wall itself. More complex rule-based systems exploit the relationship between a class of rectangles that can be generated from the geometric properties of the square.
However, in this case, the entire hypotenuse of the generating square is drawn and rotated. Henri Labrouste used the radical two rectangles to express the proportions of the plans, sections and facades of the Bibliothèque Ste.
Sequencing Spaces
The plan for Robie House is composed of two separate wings that separate the public from the private space. The plan of the Farnsworth House is a modern example of poche; kitchen, bathroom and storage room are combined in a single volume in the open plan. Contiguous townhouse with stairs and walkway along one of the common walls or mid-plan sandwiched between exterior-facing rooms (the American Northeast and Midwest).
The height of the living room must be greater than the height of e.g. powder room or a coat closet. A series of intimate, terraced spaces along the sides of a triple elevation, exemplified in the section of the Müller House, is another strategy for varying spatial heights. The section of Villa Baizeau has interlocking double-height rooms that become single-height rooms when put together.
In conjunction with the open plan opposite, this layout places enclosed offices on the inside of the plan, usually towards the core. Natural light usually reaches the center of the plan through transparent windows in the wall that separates the private offices from the rest of the office space.
Types of Rooms
Depending on the chef's preferences, the island can be designed to either cook or prepare a meal. Depending on the chef's preferences, the island can be designed to either cook or prepare a meal. The size of the refrigerator should be directly proportional to the size of the kitchen.
The configuration of the dining room depends on the size and shape of the dining table. Regardless of the configuration, the dining area should be directly adjacent to the kitchen work areas for easy delivery and cleanup of meals. Code and Accessibility
ADA is the national accessibility code, and as with the building code, jurisdictions have interpretations of the guidelines specific to the governing municipality. The measurement should be taken from the front of the door to the stop on the closing post. Power door: Door with a mechanism that helps open the door or reduces the opening resistance of the door, upon activation of a switch or sustained force applied to the door itself.
Story: Part of a building between the top surface of a floor and the top surface of the floor or roof next to the top. Many of your projects "dematerialize" the corners of a room by incorporating reveals and lighting conditions at the intersections of ceilings, walls, and floors. In the context of the rest of your work, it could be considered a landscaping project.

SURFACE
Color
In the early 1900s, the American Albert Munsell developed a system of color analysis based on hue, value and chroma. To account for the variation in a color's strength (red is considered twice as strong in chroma as blue-green), Munsell developed what he called the color tree. Hue is measured in degrees from 0 to 360; saturation determines vividness as the color moves toward white; and brightness changes the darkness of a color.
The role of color in interior design is further complicated by its association with materials. OTHER RELATED ASPECTS OF COLOR WILL BE DISCUSSED IN THE CHAPTER DEDICATED TO MATERIAL, TEXTURE, PATTERN AND LIGHT.). In the abstract - that is, when the color is not associated with a material - there are six "classic" color combinations: monochromatic, analogous, complementary, split complementary, triadic and tetradic.

Material
Stains come in a range of transparencies, which control how much of the substrate remains visible once the stain is applied. However, they offer a wide range of patterns and ideas that can significantly add to the atmosphere of the room in which they are placed. Primer As with paint preparation, a primer provides a clean surface for the application of the coating.

Paper A single sheet of 10-mil or 20-mil paper is applied evenly to the back of the veneer to provide an adhesive surface. Paper A single sheet of 10-mil or 20-mil paper is applied evenly to the back of the veneer to provide an adhesive surface.
Texture
Incorporating a range and balance of textures into a room can be as character-defining as a sophisticated color scheme. 1 Quartz solid surface 2 Quartz solid surface 3 Epoxy coating 4 Solid surface 5 Epoxy coating 6 Quartz solid surface. Three general families of palettes have different implications for the role of texture within the overall design concept: the white, neutral, and dark palettes.
This palette can also favor materials with natural textures such as linen and sisal rugs. When paired with dark contrasting elements such as an ebonized floor or lacquered surface, a white palette can be refreshing and bold, but it requires careful maintenance and may not be practical for many clients. Neutral palettes can easily incorporate many natural materials such as wood, cork and stone to balance tactile textures with visual textures.
Creamy tones pair well with medium woods such as oak and anigre, warm stones such as limestone and travertine, and warm metals such as bronze and copper. Cool gray tones go well with dark woods such as walnut and ebony, lighter stones such as arabescato classico or thassos marble, and cool metals such as stainless steel and chrome.
