CHAPTER I INTRODUCTION

1.1 Background of Study

Nowadays, having just a degree is not enough. As a graduates students must have a current and good relevant knowledge, experience, skills, work ethic, and positive attitude for competing for a job market.

Industrial training is a program which aims to provide a managed good practical training within particular time frame, provided by government organization. As a student in college, it’s very important to do industrial training because it helps us to experience and develop a skills that may not be found in college/school. Industrial training will teach us about how to communicate with a customer and how to work together as a team.

Industrial training program is the only step to the real world of work. The purpose of industrial training is to introduce students to the real world of work. In college we can only get theory and examples, but when we do the industrial training, we can get a lot of practical work. When we start an industrial raining/internship, we can learn a lot from experienced people that works there. We can get as much knowledge as possible for our future. While we learn a lot of new things, we can use the internship opportunity to prove ourselves that we can be counted on for the company. It’s important that so we can have a good track record in the company and making it easier for us to find work in the future. With doing industrial training/internship, we can be an independent person. The Author chose The Soematra is because it is a fine dining restaurant where everything is cooked from scratch. So that the Author can get new recipes and knowledge.

10 1.2 Industrial Training Objective

The purpose of implementing this industrial training/internship program is to increase student’s experience and skills, so students can find out a lot of new things in the real world of work. And the other purpose of internship program to improve the quality of the students.

Students can be trained to deal with problems and train their mentalities, so student can obtain solutions to these problems by applying theory, courage and knowledge.

1.3 The Benefits of Industrial Training 1. For Students:

Internship activities give students opportunity to applu all the knowledge in Ottimmo International MasterGourmet Academy and details about professional work standards. This experience then becomes a provision in live a real career path.

2. For College:

Fostering good relations and the exchange of information between De Soematra 1910 and OTTIMMO International MasterGourmet Academy.

3. For Company:

De Soemara 1910 had benefits from student’s innovation And they can help the company to get more workers.
