The researcher finds 49 data with an associative meaning in Barack Obama's speech entitled 'This is Your Generation's World to Shape'. The data is classified into 4 types such as connotative meaning, affective meaning, reflective meaning and collocative meaning. The data shows that Obama is optimistic in saying that we will have to do it together. The underlined sentence "we're going to have to do it together" indicates that Obama fully believes that all people can get through this. when they do it together. In this context, the adjective big gives new meaning to the description of the noun performance.

Furthermore, according to Merriam Webster dictionary, the word rapid is included as a noun meaning "quick in development or appearance". As stated in Ozdic collocation dictionary, the noun question often collocates with the adjective right in which it affects the meaning of the word. Data 18 is therefore included as collocative meaning because it is in line with Leech (1974), collocative meaning is about the tendency of words that associate with other words to give new explanation of the meaning.

Thus, clue 19 is included as collocative meaning because it is basically with Leech (1974), collocative meaning is concerned with the tendency of words to be associated with other words to give new explanation of meaning. When the noun sometimes joins the adjective hard, there is a transmission of meaning. Thus, data 21 is included as collocative meaning because according to Leech (1974) it is said that collocative meaning is about the tendency of words to be associated with other words to give new explanation of meaning.

When the noun generation is collocated with the adjective new, it provides transfer to the meaning of the word generation. Thus, Data 22 is included as collocative meaning because according to Leech (1974) stated that collocative meaning deals with the tendency of words connecting with other words to provide new explanation of the meaning. But what remains true is that your graduation marks your passage into adulthood—the time when you begin to take responsibility for your own life.

According to the Merriam Webster dictionary, the word life means “the quality that distinguishes a vital and functional being from a dead body.” While it also means 'the sequence of physical and mental experiences that constitute an individual's existence'. Therefore, after considering the context 'the moment when you begin to take charge of your own life', it is determined that 'the quality that distinguishes a vital and functional being from a dead body', 'a way or manner of living ' , and 'human activities' do not match the context Obama is trying to portray.

Thus, the meaning of 'the sequence of physical and mental experiences that constitute an individual's existence' fits the context. According to Merriam Webster's dictionary, the word ruth means "the totality of real things, events, and facts." Moreover, the word 'truth' also has the meaning 'as of a statement) that it is in accordance with fact or reality'.

Therefore, after examining the context, "But if you listen to the truth." it is found that "a body of real things, events, and facts," "a state of affairs," and "the property (as a statement) of being in accordance with fact or reality" do not fit the context Obama is trying to provide.
