The School of Informatics and Computer Science offers a master's degree in health informatics to address the needs arising from the rapidly changing healthcare environment. However, international students and all students directly funded by the Faculty of Informatics and Computer Science (in the form of an assistantship or scholarship) must complete the program within two years.

Overview

Indiana University's Department of Library and Information Science (LIS) consistently ranks among the top ten MLS programs in North America. In 1980, the school's name was officially changed to School of Library and Information Science (SLIS).

Department of Library and

The Department of Library and Information Science is a member of the Association for Library and Information Science Education, the American Library Association, the Association for Information Science and Technology and the Special Library Association. Now a department within the School of Informatics and Computing, the Department of Library and Information Science continues to offer top-quality degree programs through the School of Informatics and Computing on the IUPUI campus.

Information Science Admissions

Such educational experiences are gained through selection of elective courses from the Department of Library and Information Science, through collaboration with other graduate programs of the university, and through seminars, workshops, conferences, group projects, internships and practicum experiences. In October 2012, the IU Board of Trustees approved the merger of the Schools of Informatics and Library and Information Science—forming the new School of Informatics and Computing on both the Bloomington and IUPUI campuses.

Procedures

The policy took effect beginning with the Fall 1996 semester, and all courses used to replace a previous grade must have been taken in Fall 1996 or later. Once invoked, a student cannot subsequently request a reversal of the grade compensation awarded for a given course.

Graduate Academic Regulations

Students on probation must achieve a grade point average of at least 3.0 for all graduate work completed by the end of the next semester of full-time enrollment or its equivalent (9 credit hours). All degree requirements must be completed at least 30 days prior to the expected date of graduation, including submission of bound copies of the master's thesis (if required for the degree).
