Foreword From the Editor in Chief

March 2022, Pekanbaru. Indonesia Welcome to the first issue of Utamax journal of Ultimate Research and Trends in Education. Using the journal inauguration in 2022 as an occasion, I would like to thank all current Editorial Board members, reviewers, and members of LITA, as well as the contributing authors for creating Volume 4 No. 1 of Utamax journal. In particular, my greatest thanks are due to the director of LPPM-Unilak Dr. Jeni Wardi. SE. M. Ak, CA., and his LPPM Team, a team of kind-hearted persons, are inspirational by the journal to share the knowledge with the academia.

The current issue of this journal includes seven papers written by authors from 5 different countries and affiliations, namely; Ateerah Abdul Razak et al. From Malaysia highlighted “Effective Practices for Educators to Increase Online Interaction Quality”, which showed us that there were some effective practices in conducting large online classes that deal with internet self-efficacy and impact of proactive personality on social capital in the educational context.

Md Khaled Bin Chowdhury, & Fariza Binti Puteh Behak wrote “Online Higher Education in Bangladesh during Covid-19: Its Challenges and Prospects", which discusses that online higher education has not been expected popularity and a switch to it has always been seen as a challenge despite its potentials in Bangladesh. Then this latest issue has Hiranya Lal Lamsal, who wrote: "Exploring challenges and opportunities of Remote Teaching at Nepalese Community Secondary Schools during Covid-19 Pandemic" from this paper, we clearly see that due to COVID-19 crisis, many schools are compelled to conduct the classes through virtual mode which is really a challenging phenomenon for the teachers, especially in community schools in Nepal. However, it seems the teachers responded positively to severe online teaching platforms and resources; let's say it always provides an opportunity to develop innovation and creativity. Aisha Rahat et al., with their paper “Effect of Mental Pressure Due to Covid-19 on Students’ Educational Performance: A Study from Karachi, Pakistan” highlighted that we all should know that the Coronavirus pandemic has affected not only the physical health of people but also the mental health of people globally including in Pakistan. Quite similarly, findings due to the pandemic coming from the paper "Committing Crime to Attend Online Class: Elucidating News Media’s Polemic on Covid-19 Distance Learning Policies” by Alexsander Yandra et al., contributed to delivering the obstacles that arise from and because of distance education policies that news media report to the public due to the Covid 19. This brings the implication of this study is the value of investing attention to the role of news media in the country’s implementation of Covid-19 distance learning.

Further, the last two papers are from Leah Mae Fancubila Farillon, entitled “Scientific Reasoning, Critical Thinking, and Academic Performance in Science of Selected Filipino Senior High School Students", a correlational study in quantitative was conducted to determine the relationship of scientific reasoning skills, critical thinking skills, and performance in Science of senior high school (SHS) students that brought us into a conclusions, that students should learn to engage in scientific argumentation to develop their scientific reasoning and critical thinking skills. Also, the teachers should build up certain students' skills to better their performance in Science and other subjects. The school administration should also look for more sustainable programs and workshops for the teachers and students to improve their studies and lives. Then, Nuryadi et al., with their R&D study entitled “Developing a Realistic Learning Approach on Mobile-based Apps: An Ethnomathematics Tedhak Siten" proposed a unique finding on mobile learning

with a realistic approach to mathematics using the Tedhak Siten ceremony can improve students' critical thinking skills and can be used for learning. The Tedhak Siten ceremony means descending from the ground in Indonesian, especially in Javanese culture. The traditionhas seven interrelated sequences as an expression of gratitude to God when a 7-8-month-old baby begins to set foot on the earth that by this study was used as a setting or context for learning with the final target is to develop students' critical thinking skills by maximizing their learning activities. I believe these seven papers from this current issue should bring new insight and spirit of sharing knowledge-based research to academia.

As the Editor-in-Chief of this promising journal, I am deeply grateful to all the authors for their excellent works and remarkable contributions. Each issue offers valuable reports and articles for educational research. We encourage authors from around the globe to submit manuscripts on practical and scientific key issues in the education of all disciplines.

Last but not least, I would like to welcome all academia, researcher and practitioners of teaching and learning to this latest issue of Utamax : Journal of Ultimate Research and Trends in Education. This campus-based journal is an international, peer-reviewed, open-access that comprises the outstanding achievements of the world's leading researchers in educational research. This journal will continue to move towards the internationalization of journals.

Best of Luck
