INTRODUCTION
- Background
- Problem Statement
- Objective Of The Study
- Significance Of The Study
- Scope Of The Study
The students sometimes feel bored learning to read in their class because the teacher becomes more dominant in his teaching and learning process than the students do in the class. In addition, students could not identify the generic structure (general classification and description) and grammatical features of report text. Students work together as a team to not only learn the material but also help them understand when they read the text.
Therefore, deal with the students' problem, Student Team Achievement Division (STAD) technique will be one of the good solutions to motivate students and help each other to master the skill presented by the teacher. Both the previous researchers show that STAD is a successful technique in learning because it is very useful to improve students' reading performance, the students can work together to practice their language ability. Based on the problem formulation above, the aim of this research was to find out if the students' reading performance increases in terms of their literal comprehension by using STAD (technique student team performance division) technique.
The teachers are expected that the result of this research will provide them with a reference in their teaching so that they can apply the technique of cooperative learning: Student Team Achievement Division in increasing the reading performance of the students. The scope of this research focused on the reading performance of the students, particularly in the report text, by using the Student Team Achievement Division (STAD) technique, which tested the literal understanding of the main idea and sequences in the text. established in sophomores of SMP Muhammadiyah Limbung. .

Riswandi Improving students' reading comprehension of narrative text through Question Answer Relationship (QAR) strategy. Null hypothesis (Ho): there is no significant difference between the result of pre-test and post-test of the students' reading performance in report text. Alternative hypothesis (H1): there is a significant difference between the result of pre-test and post-test of the students' reading performance in report text.
In the second meeting, the researcher introduced the Student Team Achievement Distribution (STAD) technique to the students. The purpose of the post-test was to determine the differences in significance between student achievement before and after the use of the Student Team Achievement Division (STAD). An indicator of students' literal understanding of main idea and sequence.
The reading test was given to the students to know their performance in reading text. The researchers gave treatment four times to the students' according to applied student team performance section in the process of reading. The finding consists of the data obtained by reading the test to see the students'.
Data collected through observation and evaluation to determine students' improvement in learning to read after treatment. This can be seen in the average score of the students in the pre-test and post-test and also in the percentage of improvement. It was supported by the average score and percentage of students' pre-test and post-test scores.
In the first meeting when the researcher gave the pre-test, the researcher seemed that most of the students had little understanding. Based on students' reading achievement before and after being taught using STAD, there was a significant difference between students. The researcher concludes that the use of STAD was one of the good methods that could improve students' reading achievement in SMP Muhammadiyah Limbung second grade report text of students in academic year 2016/.
Based on the research findings and discussion, the writer concludes that STAD was able to improve the literal reading comprehension of second grade students of SMP Muhammadiyah Limbung. There was a significant difference between the literal reading comprehension of the second grade students of SMP Muhammadiyah Limbung before and after using STAD, in other words, it was effective in improving the students.
METHOD OF THE RESEARCH
Research Design
The research was a pre-experimental method with one group pre-test and post-test design, the group was given a pre-test before the treatment. In the third meeting, the researcher gave the students of each team 10 minutes of paper to re-read the picture about the animals and. In the fourth meeting, the students are given an opportunity about their performance goal, which can be achieved if they try harder to do better than their previous performances, so that each student can contribute the most points to their team.

Instrument Of The Research
It was intended to see that the value of the treatment result of the post-test was better than the result of the pre-test. The data collected through the pre- and post-test are analyzed in inferential statistics as follows. Did not identify the main idea of the story or provide evidence, details related to the main idea.
The researcher used STAD in treatment to see the improvement of students' reading achievement and there was an improvement from pre-test to post-test. Based on table 4.1 above, the mean score of the post-test was greater than the mean score of the pre-test. Describing the data collected from a recall in terms of main idea and sequence as explained in the previous section showed that students' skills in main idea and sequence in reading improved.
After the students were treated as researchers, the students' average post-test score improved to 5.29. The use of STAD improved students' reading achievement, especially in terms of recall of main idea and sequence. This was demonstrated by the mean pre-test score of the students 3.96 and post-test 5.29, which shows that the mean pre-test score is lower than the mean post-test score and the result of the t-test statistical value for all variables of literal reading comprehension is greater23 from the t-table value of 1.699.
Suggestions for students about using STAD for teaching reading text are: Students are suggested to use STAD when they want to read the text (report text) because STAD can help each student to cooperate and make reading easy and fun . . The suggestion for another researcher about researching the use of STAD for teaching reading is that the other researcher is hoped to do research on the use of other media in order to enrich the media research in improving students' reading skills and reading skills. others. The researcher should find another technique if he becomes a teacher next time, so that he can teach very well, so that the students are satisfied and happy in the class.

Procedure Of Data Collection
Technique Of Data Analysis
The result from the pre-test to the post-test, there were student achievement results from low to high using the STAD technique.
Findings
Discussions
Significance of Reading Achievement Using STAD Technique After calculating the t-test analysis value, it was then compared with the t-table value, so the researcher found that the t-test value was greater than the t-table value, which meant that it was null the hypothesis (H0) was rejected and the alternative hypothesis (H1) was accepted because there was a difference in the characteristic mean test score given by the researcher before and after the researcher's mind reading achievement using the STAD technique. While the t-test value was found to be lower than the t-table value, it meant that the null hypothesis (H0) was accepted and the alternative hypothesis (H1) was rejected because there was no significant difference in the mean score tests given by the researcher before and after the researcher's achievement of mind reading using the STAD technique. Furthermore, the data showed that the null hypothesis (H0) was rejected and the alternative hypothesis (H1) was accepted.
The suggestions for teachers related to the use of STAD for teaching reading text are: teachers are suggested to use STAD for teaching reading text because it has been proven to be effective. They are: STAD method is recommended to be used in the teaching learning process, this technique added a list of methods, and this method can be used for the second lesson, not only for English lesson. Based on the research, using STAD is effective in teaching reading in the teaching learning process.
