Tujuan dari penelitian ini adalah untuk mengetahui keterampilan membaca teks recount. menunjukkan bahwa penerapan teknik membaca teks recount dalam proses belajar mengajar bahasa inggris untuk mengetahui keterampilan membaca siswa. Dapat membuat siswa semangkin meningkat dalam belajaar bahas inggris juga.

The purpose of this study is to determine the students’ skills through in reading recount text in class VIII SMP Negeri 5 Bintan. The reason of choosing of the topic was caused of the researcher had previously assigned students to read the recount text, but the results obtained were not satisfactory. Therefore, the researcher used recount text to improve students’ reading skills. This research is descriptive qualitative research. To find out the data, the researcher used test technique. The results of the study indicate that the application of recount text reading techniques in the teaching and learning process of English is to determine students’ skills. Can make more likely to improve in learning English well.
