MANGA HIGH SCHOOL EXTENSION LESSON PLAN IN MATH 7
July 23, 2019 I. Objectives
At the end of the lesson, the students will be able to:
Define the rules in multiplying and dividing Integer. (Cognitive)
Solve problem involving multiplying and dividing Integer. ( Psychomotor)
Relate Integer in Love - Hate analogy. ( Affective) II. Subject Matter
Topic: Multiplying and Dividing of Integer Reference: Grade 7 Mathematics Book Material: Visual aids, flash cards
Values: Critical thinking, active participation, determination, patience, creativity III. Procedure
A. Daily Activities
Prayer
Greetings
Classroom Management
Checking of attendance B. Review
The teacher will ask the students for the previous topic that was discussed.
C. Motivation
The teacher will start off by asking the following:
a. Is love a positive or a negative thing?
b. Is hate a positive or a negative thing?
This assumes that based on the students’ experience of love and hate, they will be able to identify that love is a positive thing and that hate is a negative thing.
“LOVE = Positive (+) and HATE = Negative (-)”
The teacher will proceed to the questions:
a. If you love to love, simply put, do you love or do you hate?
b. If you hate to hate, simply put, do you love or do you hate?
c. If you love to hate, simply put, do you love or do you hate?
d. If you hate to love, simply put, do you love or do you hate?
The students should be able to identify that:
a. If you love to love, you LOVE ( a+ and a+ = +) b. If you hate to hate, you LOVE ( a- and a- = +) c. If you love to hate, you HATE ( a+ and a- = -) d. If you hate to love, you hate ( a- and a+ = -) D. Discussion
The teacher will make a connection that is similar to the analogy and the students will continue discovering the rules in multiplying and dividing of integers.
a. Positive x positive = positive b. Negative x negative = positive c. Positive x negative = negative d. Negative x positive = negative
After giving the connections from the analogy, the teacher will let the students discover the rules in multiplying and dividing of integers.
Multiplying Signed Numbers –
Multiply the absolute values of the numbers. If the two numbers have the same sign, the product is positive. If the two numbers have different signs, the product is negative.
Dividing Singed Numbers -
Divide the absolute values of the numbers. If the two numbers have the same sign, the quotient is positive. If the two numbers have different signs, the quotient is negative.
IV. Evaluation
The teacher will let the students solve the following equations on their activity notebook:
1. -18 x 2 6. -51 ÷ 3
2. -7 x (-5) 7. 108 ÷ (-9)
3. 9 x (-8) 8. -154 ÷ (11)
4. -10 x 14 9. -8 ÷ (-32)
5. (-8) x (-2) 10. 40 ÷ (-40)
V. Assignment
The students will answer the following questions and write it on their Math notebook.
a. What is a rational number?
b. What is an irrational number?
