SUPPLEMENTARY MATERIAL
A review of the literature published during the time period of our study indicates that the rates of successful closure of the ABG to within 10dB range from 16% to 80.5%. Rates of closure of the ABG to within 20dB range from 50% to 90%.2-8,10-14,17,18,20,21,24-30 When we analyze historical success rate by laser use, those series using the CO2 laser report success rates from 59.8-65%.10,13 Those series using Argon or KTP lasers report success rates from 43-80.5%.18,20 Those series of revision stapedectomies performed without laser assistance report success rates from 16-80%.11,29 A review of complications during this time period does not demonstrate an increased rate of postoperative SNHL in cases using KTP or Argon lasers compared to those cases performed with CO2 laser or those cases performed without laser assistance (Table 2).
