Effect of Installation of Photovoltaic (PV) Generation to Power Quality in Industrial and Residential Customers Distribution Network

INTRODUCTION

THEORY A. Power Quality Standart

The effect of installing photovoltaic (PV) generation on power quality in industrial and private customer distribution networks. Research method begins with determining the network model (grid) connected to the PV system, PV array circuit model, PV inverter circuit topology models, as well as the distribution network topology model for industrial and residential customers. The next process is to determine the strategy for installing PV power generators in the distribution network for industrial and residential customers.

In the industrial customer case studies, three 150 kW solar systems connected to the distribution network and subsequent evaluation of the response of the distribution network. The next step is to determine the value of bus voltage THD, current TDD and power factor (power factor) leader in the distribution network of industrial and private customers on a number of strategies installation of PV generator. There are two models of network topology, namely distribution networks of industrial and residential customers.

Both grid distribution networks are supplied by a 1000 kVA power transformer, 11/0.4 kV Δ/Y connection, which is connected to the external grid MVAsc 9000. The data load, transformer, conductor and PV generator in the grid industrial and residential consumer distribution are presented in Table III. Based on the above data, then analyzed using ETAP 7.0 software, it helps to determine the value of THD bus voltage, TDD current and conductor power factor in the distribution network of industrial and residential customers in a variety of installation strategies of the PV generator.

The addition of PV generator in both distribution networks generates an increase in the voltage THD value. The addition of PV generator in two models distribution network produce leader current TDD value is increasing. The value of the power factor in the distribution network for industrial and private customers on average already meets the minimum requirements PLN limit by 85%, except for the bus that is not connected to the PV generator.

The simulation results show that the THD value on the main voltage distribution network of industrial and residential customers is still below the THD voltage limit recommended by IEEE 519-1992 by 5%. Most of the TDD conductor values in the two distribution network models are below the TDD conductor current limit recommended by IEEE 519-1992. The value of the power factor in the distribution network of industrial and residential customers on average already meets the minimum requirements, the limits set by PLN by 85%.

  • ACKNOWLEDGMENT

THD is the ratio of the rms value of the harmonic components to the rms value of the fundamental component and is commonly expressed as a percentage. The second parameter is Individual Harmonic Distortion (IHD) is the ratio between the rms value of individual harmonics and the rms value of the fundamental component. The value of low impedance Rf for each tuned filter is affected by the quality factor of filter Q.

The interaction of the filter with the source reactance Ls creates an additional parallel resonance condition at the series resonance frequency of the filter. The first distribution network is connected to 5 buses, namely 2 load buses, connected to the PV power plant, as well as another bus connected to the PV generator and also serving as a load bus. The PV generator, in addition to the power supply operation in the distribution network, is also a harmonic source due to the presence of the inverter as a medium for transforming DC voltage into AC voltage.

Based on the above data, which are then analyzed by ETAP 7.0 software, they help to determine the value of bus voltage THD, current TDD and bus power factor in the distribution network of industrial and residential customers for many PV generator installation strategies. This is because, in addition to a working PV generator feeding the distribution network, it also generates harmonics due to the presence of an inverter as a medium for converting DC to AC voltage. Using the same procedure, TDD current mitigation can be performed on conductor 6 in a residential distribution network for grid-installed PV.

From Table VII, we can see that the nominal current TDD on conductors 5 and 6 of the industrial customer distribution network before using single-tuned passive filters is 224.9 and 39.4. After using the 3rd order single tuned passive filter, as shown in Table VIII, the value of current TDD for both conductors is reduced to 154.68 and 28.26. Improvement of current TDD by means of filter also takes place on conductor 6 in the residential distribution network for PV installed to the network.

The largest value of conductor current TDD average generated by conductor connected directly to the PV generator bus. This is because, in addition to operating PV plants that supply power to the distribution grid, also generate harmonics due to the presence of the inverter as a medium to convert DC to AC voltage.
