THE VIGILANCE OF THE SPREAD OF MONKEYPOXVIRUS (MPOX) DESEASES IN WORKERS
Letter from the Ministry of Manpower, Directorate General of Manpower Supervision and Occupational Safety and Health Development number B-5/176/AS.01/IX/2024 dated September 5, 2024 to Provincial Manpower
Office Head and Company managements regarding the vigilance of the spread of monkeypoxvirus (mpox) deseases in workers
To each of Company Management to:
1. Implement the provisions in Minister of Manpower Regulation number PER.03/MEN/1982 concerning Occupational Health Services as part of the Implementation of Occupational Safety and Health requirements.
2. Fostering Workers to implement preventive measures as follows : a). Maintain a clean work environment.
b). Avoid physical contact with someone who is suspected or has been confirmed to have Mpox disease.
c). Avoid consuming or handling hunted meat (wild animals).
d). Get used to consuming properly cooked meat.
e). Travel Workers who have just returned from infected areas should immediately check themselves if they experience symptoms and inform their travel history.
f). If Workers with close contacts experience Gajala Mpox, immediately check themselves at a health service facility.
3. Provide information to Workers about Mpox cases in the workplace and preparedness plans in dealing with the disease.
4. Data and report to relevant agencies every case that should be suspected of Mpox cases in the workplace.
5. Coordinate with relevant parties in an effort to prevent the spread of Mpox cases in the workplace.
