1.1 Memahami rule of regular dan irregular verbs; mengubah bentuk verb 1 ke verb 2.
1.2 Mengamati pola kalimat simple past tense berbentuk verbal lalu mengubah kalimat affirmative, negative, dan question.
1.3 Membuat dan mengungkapkan kalimat simple past tense secara tulisan maupun lisan menggunakan adverbial of time.
A. VERBAL SIMPLE PAST

Percakapan diatas ialah salah satu bentuk simple past tense yang membahas tentang tindakan yang telah terjadi. Maka, Simple past tense bersifat verbal (tindakan) dicirikan dengan perubahan bentuk kata kerja menjadi kata kerja ke-2 atau past verb (verb 2). Maka, sebelum kita mempelajari simple past tense bersifat verbal secara mendalam, mari kita kembali mengingat macam-macam verb 2.

B. NOMINAL SIMPLE PAST

Daffa : Were you a graphich designer ? (Apakah dulu kamu seorang graphic designer?) Fabian : Yes, I was a graphic designer and it was so fun. (Ya, aku dulu seorang graphic designer dan itu sangat menyenangkan.)
Percakapan diatas ialah salah satu bentuk simple past tense yang membahas tentang pekerjaan dan keterangan dari suatu tindakan atau suatu hal yang telah terjadi. Maka, Simple past tense dengan sifat-sifat tersebut termasuk simple past tense berbentuk nominal (keadaan).
Biasanya, kalimat nominal simple past tense dicirikan dengan penggunaan to be: was/were.
Was digunakan untuk subjek atau pelaku yang hanya satu saja (singular subjects), diantaranya;
I, He, She, It, Nama orang (Ica), Nama hewan (Cat), etc. Sedangkan, were digunakan untuk subjek atau pelaku yang lebih dari satu (plural subjects) seperti They, we, students, children, my friends, etc, juga orang kedua yaitu you.
