Exopodite: 1st joint with 9 setae (1 very long distal dorsal seta with widely separated marginal spines, 2 transparent plumose setae on or near dorsal margin at mid-joint, 1 proximally near ventral margin or near mid-joint, 1 proximally on ventral margin, and 4 distally near the ventral margin). 3rd exopodial joint with 3 setae of equal length (2 dorsal claws (weakly ringed distally), 1 ventral thin ringed). Exopodite: 1st joint with 6 setae (3 ventral, 3 set from ventral margin, none dorsal); 2nd joint with 3 setae (1 ventral, 2 dorsal); 3rd joint with 3 ring-shaped glabrous setae (middle slightly longer).
A difference from previously described species where the character is known to be more spiny and to have long proximal hairs on the shorter claw (Figure 22c). DISTRIBUTION. - Guaymas Basin (southern trough), Alvin dive 1629, bottom depth 2000 m, collected in plankton 3 to 4 m above the bottom. Endopodite (Figure 25e,f): 1st joint with 2 dorsal a- and b-bristles spinous processes (a-bristles about 74 lengths of b-bristles); 2nd joint with 2 minute unringed c and d bristles (Figure 25/) and 2 long f and g bristles; 3rd joint with base medial to 2nd joint, and point with sclerotized border (joint of right limb with small terminal node), with h, i, and j bristles. Endopodite separated from endite II by a minute notch in the ventral margin, with 2 short, stout, unringed, indistinctly spiny tooth-like setae and 3 slender spiny setae.
Exopodite: 1st joint with 7 hairs near ventral margin, 2 diaphanous plumose hairs near dorsal margin, and 1 very long spiny hair on dorsal margin; 2nd joint with 3 hairs on ventral margin and 2 on dorsal margin;. 3rd joint with 2 claw-like dorsal hairs and 1 thin ringed ventral hair (middle brush the longest). Exopodite: 1st joint with 4 hairs on or near ventral margin; 2nd joint with 2 hairs (1 ventral, . 1 dorsal); 3rd joint with 3 ringed bristles.
Furca (Figure 25/): Each limb with 7 claws with double row of teeth along posterior margin; claw 1 with 3 proximal weakly developed sutures; 1 unpaired long spinous bristle on lamellae after claws; lamellae hirsute. I re-examined the specimen and found that each limb has 9 exopodial joints, with the left limb having 4 setae at the 9th joint and the 9th joint of the right limb obscured but with at least 3 setae, possibly 4.
