"Beyond the Horizon," E11gene O'Neill's first f11ll-length work, will mark the lOOth anniversary of the playwright's birth when it opens Dec. 2 on camp11s in the Mary Cable B11ilding theater. J. Edgar Webb, professor and director of the IUPUI University Theatre, will direct the P11litzer Prize-winning play abo11t Robert Mayo, the idealist dreamer who becomes thoro•1ghly fr11strated with life on the farm with his pedestrian wife. C11rtain is at 8 p.m. Tickets for the play are $3.50 for st11dents and older people, $4.50 for fac11lty and staff and $6 for others. They will be available at the door or by calling 4-2094.
UNITED WAY CAMPAIGN BROUGHT OUT THE BEST IN A LOT OF US
Even as the dollars were being totaled, more United Way pledges were coming in from all points on camp11s. By press time, IUPUI people had pledged more than
$130,000 to their neighbors next year. We were well over half-way, and almost to the 75 percent of this year's goal of $190,000. As the campaign ends, 011r s11ccess will be meas11red not only by how m•1ch was given, b11t by how many.
Those of yo•1 who pledged a lot or a 1 ittle are thanked, and those of yo11 who still wish to give can do so. A final tally will be forthcoming.

G. Kent Frandsen, associate professor of law and associate dean for st11dent affairs at the School of Law, died Nov. 16 at his home in Lebanon. Loved and respected by st11dents, fac11lty and staff, Kent Frandsen has been at IUPUI since 1965. Chancellor Gerald L. Bepko, former dean of the School of Law, said, "Of all the IU law fac11lty members I have come to know over the past 16 years, Kent Frandsen stands 011t as one of my dearest, closest friends and most vali1ed colleag11es. He cared so deeply for his school and its st11dents. His FRANDSEN door was always open to st11dents, ali1mni and fellow members of the law school family. He has been honored many times with vario11s awards and a scholarship
in his name, b11t these honors are only a smal 1 part of the trib11te we sho11ld pay for the way he devoted his life to improving the ed11cation and welfare of st11dents, advancing the ca11se of al11mni, b11ilding the stat11re of IU and serving the comm1mity in which he lived.
We will miss him greatly and will cherish his memory.'' Norman Lefstein, dean of the School of Law, said, "The s•1dden death of Kent Frandsen is a tragic loss for the School of Law, the University and the Indiana legal comm11nity. He will be sorely missed, not j11st beca11se of the dedicated manner in which he discharged his professional d11ties, b11t beca11se of the friendship and warmth that he extended to all persons with whom he dealt.
The school's st11dents and literally tho11sands of al11mni will always remember Kent Frandsen with the deepest affection and respect. I have lost a personal friend and respected colleag11e, and I know that everyone who knew him shares my sadness and mo11rns his 1mtimely death. We will miss him greatly." He is s11rvived by his wife Marilee, sons Kent M. and Jeffrey H. and da11ghter Anne.
