Iowa, township members of Des Moines Technical High School will spend a weekend with nearby FutureFarmer to get the feel of farm life. Other Iowa chapters will collect quartz juice cans and distribute them to flower holders on Memorial Day. Another chapter will restore mailboxes and positions for rural residents. Community service is Ohio's theme, and several chapters will help families in need.
Future Farmers will trim shrubs in the park, move snow for stranded families, and improve Main Street by washing windows. And in local communities, chapter presidents appear before civic groups to report their chapters' activities since the beginning of the school year. Georgia's new promotional idea is to have an Atlanta newspaper create a cartoon depicting National FFA Week, then prepare it in mat form for distribution to every newspaper in the state.
The exhibit will be double-sided with one side featuring an animated farm scene that illustrates a typical New York dairy farm and shows how FFA fits in. Mississippi, the mayor will issue an official proclamation: then the chapter officers, businessmen and city officials will be photographed together, and will be placed on; . Many chapters in Virginia will hold an open house during FFA week this year to welcome parents and friends to local chapters.

General Motors scientists are now developing; transistors that can slide through the eye of a pin and use only one-thousandth of the power required for conventional transistors. In fact, the power consumption of these transistors is so small that it is measured in microwatts - millionths of a watt. The apple is the source of direct current and acts like a storage battery. The metal electrodes jam into the power supply for the transistor circuit in Don's hand.
These and other intriguing solid-state devices evolve from fundamental General Motors research into how electrons move and behave.

34;So many people talk about the subject of farming, and believe that the opportunities for ahoy on the farm are not good. That was three years ago—the same year his older brother, Tom, was preparing his application for the State Farmer degree. Tom did receive the degree, and his father was made an honorary member of the local FFA chapter.
Over the past three years, they have automated their feedlots, until now it is possible to handle 300 cattle annually. In FFA activities, Roger is Chapter President this year and received the Chapter Farmer Degree at the annual ParentandSonBanquet. Looking far ahead, this young future farmer set his goals: to become a state farmer; be in competition for the district, regional and state Star Farmer awards; earn enough money to get through college; and be able to maintain his interest in the agricultural program he established.

When leasing a common crop, however, the lessor usually provides part of the seed, fertilizer, spray and sometimes other costs, depending on the terms of the lease. On the other hand, the first year or even the first two or three years may turn out to be unfavorable. Tenancy of common crops is widely used in many parts of the country, while cash rent of land is restricted in some communities.
Land that should be used for grazing most of the time is generally better suited to cash rentals or livestock leases. be a crop share on the cultivated land and a cash rent for the use of pasture. With the cash lease agreement, it is especially important that the responsibility for the maintenance of the farm is clearly specified. If you are allowed to grow high-income crops such as vegetables or corn, you can typically earn a higher return on a cash lease than if the land is. the landowner insists that the land be grown low-income crops such as oats and barley. it may be better to share the harvest or insist on a much lower cash rent.
Budgeting of Costs and Revenues Probably the best way to decide on the type of rent for a dose of pencil. Here is a symbol of the farm machinery in your future. This places added importance on the vigilance and well-being of the operator.. so too. 146 head of the best beef cattle counted; and on the other side of each dumbbell was a Mississippi Future Farmer.

In his best season last year, he averaged 29.5 points a game for sixth place honors in the N.B.A. A lethal shooter at the free throw line, he holds the Knicks' single-game team record for made free throws with 22 of 23. He's a solid man on defense, pulling down 500 or more rebounds off the backboards over the past four seasons.
That's quite a record for a guard going up against some of the giants of today's basketball. Richie has never played in a top team. Along with some other good players, he could be one of the game's great guards. He was mentioned. This kind of performance will keep supplemental points in New York's record book and should earn him another spot on the All-League team this year.
