is gutti-fascia Walker,
which, as SirG.
F.Hampson
kindly informs me, is aMegalopygid much
like tener, but vein 8 of thehindwings
arises just before angle of thecell whilethe cell is short.These
differences are probably of generic value, but I will onlycall attentionto
them now.

paraclypeus, eyes and jaws black. Body slender, cylindrical, subequal, thesegmentscoarsely 3-annulate. Uniform green, the dorsalvesseledged byamore or less distinctopaquewhite fat body. Tubercles moderate, concolorous, iv-f- vnormal, onthethoraxia-f-ib, iia -f-iib; setae rather large, pale. Feetnormal,the crochets ina circlenarrowly brokenwithout.
Cervicalshieldconcolorous, twosmall black dotsatits lateralmargin; a blackish linebelowtubercleiia-j-iib onjoint3. Spiracles concolorous;

exhibited proof sheets and illustrations of his forthcoming classification of the Superfamily Chalcidoidea,commenting on many

interesting species figured. In reply to a question as to thenumber
of species of Chalcid-flies, he stated that hebelieves that there arebetween
3,000,000 and 4,000,000 species of Chalcidoidea in the world.Dr.

andProf.Quaintancewere
askedtogive the Society an informal account of the Cotton-bollWeevil (AntJionomus grandis} and
the Boll-worm, with their experiences and the results of their recent investigationson
these pests. Dr.Hinds
gave the life-history of theCotton-bollWeevil
and told ofsome
of the measures that arebeing taken to prevent its spread andundue
multiplication. Prof. Quaintance spoke further on thesame
subjectand
also alluded to the present statusof the Boll-worm
(ffeliothisarmiger}
inTexas and
other cotton-growing States. Prof. Quaintance said that the record of the largestnumber
of eggs laidby
a singlemoth
of theBoll-worm
had been raised, as a result of his observations,from 600
to 2,200.Dr.
Dyar was
asked as to thenumber
of eggs laid by allied Noctuidae.He
replied thathe did notknow whether
therewere any
recordsas high as that,butthat heknew
of an Arctian that lays asmany
