Background: Patients with a colostomy receive various complaints regarding changes in their lives, especially regarding quality of life. Purpose: The aim of this study is to describe the family experience of a nurse caring for colorectal cancer patients with a colostomy. Results: Three main themes were revealed: (1) Family view of nurses' behavior, (2) Quality of life of patients with colostomy, (3) Needs of patients with colostomy for health services.

Furthermore, the findings revealed that positive nursing care had a greater meaning among colorectal cancer and colostomy patients whose quality of life was altered. Quintard (2017) also shows that educational interventions for colostomy patients can have a contrasting impact on quality of life and a positive impact on psychosocial management as well as on patients' self-management. Changes in the quality of life of colostomy patients differ from negative and positive responses.

The role of nurses is that of healthcare provider for colostomy patients, because the quality of life of colostomy patients is not ideal (Liao & Qin 2014). Positive care by nurses increased understanding among patients with colorectal cancer and colostomies, whose quality of life had changed. Nurse Caring on The Patients with Colorectal Cancer and Colostomy

22 Background: Patients with a colostomy experience various complaints about changes in their lives, especially about the quality of life. Several studies (Barreto & Valencia, 2013; Dabirian, Yaghmaei, Rassouli & Tafreshi, 2011) stated that the increase in colorectal malignancies significantly contributes to an increase in the number of ostomy procedures. Therefore, its creation has a variable effect on health-related quality of life (HRQOL). ). Several studies (Berry, Dalwadi, &. Jacobson, 2016; Hawyer, Van, Wilson, & Griffin, 2016; Bevans & Sternberg, 2012) have shown that the cancer care literature has grown over the past decade as the needs of patients and partners increase. and quality of life (QoL) have become points of interest.

The study aimed to analyze the family experience of colostomy patients with colostomy for nursing care in the quality of life these patients live, in order to identify the needs of colostomy patients during treatment, thus improving health services. Nurses are health care providers who have an important role in the care of colostomy patients, especially in identifying their needs, preventing complications and improving quality of life. To ensure credibility, researchers build good relationships with participants, namely families of colostomy patients, to obtain information.

Care delivery can improve and influence the quality of services and improve the well-being of all. Taylor and Morgan (2011) concluded that quality support before, during and after colostomy care is needed to improve patients' quality of life. Although the first sub-theme identified positive behaviors classified as caring nurses for colostomy patients, in this study some participants also revealed that there was a nursing service that they felt was not good.

Liao & Qin (2014) also found that patients with a colostomy had impairments and difficulties in work and also in social situations, body image and stoma function, which were similar to other categories in this study. Popek & Grant (2010) found that patients who were optimistic and positive about colostomy had a high quality of life. This finding is similar to the research of Kimura, Kamada, Guilhem, Modesto & de Abreu (2016), which revealed that the barriers faced by colostomy patients significantly affect their physical, psychological, social and spiritual well-being.

Responsiveness is where nurses respond more quickly to patient needs and the awareness that nurses need to understand the feelings and complaints of colostomy patients in the hospital. Further research needs to gain a deeper perspective of colostomy patients from such diverse variables as age group and gender.

In this sense, individuals living with a stoma require specialized care to maintain physical and psychological health and quality of life. The time and place of the interview were agreed according to the wishes of the participants, but all participants were interviewed in the hospital (Table 1. The initial phase of data analysis was carried out by documenting the results of the interview in the form of interview transcripts.

This is done to ensure the validity of the data that researchers summarized as themes. The statement is consistent with the following participant's expression: “……I am grateful that I was treated in this hospital, nurses always pay attention to the condition of the father such as asking the condition of the father and ensuring that the father feels comfortable” [P.4]. The statement is consistent with the following participant's expression: "...before there was a colostomy, all activities could be performed, since there is a colostomy, the activities are limited, it cannot be complete as before" [P.5].

The statement corresponds to the expression of the following participant: “…it's different now because I can't sleep anymore. The statement matches the expression of the following participant: “…our hope is that patient services can be prioritized because this hospital is already a central hospital, so the staff must be better than the regional hospitals” [P. 2]. The results of data analysis obtained from interviews with participants showed that nurses paid attention to the overall condition of the patient during hospital treatment.

From the family's perspective on the care of nurses and colostomy patients' quality of life, a final theme was found, namely the participants' expectations of nursing services at the hospital for colostomy patients. 55 nursing services centered on the desire to be treated humanely, assist with adaptation as a member of the household, restore and increase the patient's strength and help overcome the patient's weakness (Ferreira-umpiérrez A, Fort-fort Z. Quality of life shows that the number of categories and participants , expressing negative responses, are more than positive responses, and patients with a colostomy require professional nursing care.

Final Revision from Author

The selection of the subject of this research was carried out using purposive or judgmental sampling techniques, that is, taking samples with certain considerations (Soegiono, 2011). The ethical aspects of this study were conducted based on the principle of the five rights of human subjects in research (Macnee CL., 2004). The findings of the study revealed the need to improve services, especially in terms of skills, responsiveness and awareness of nurses.

Because of the trust in the healthcare staff, the informants in this study had learned about the colostomy and its treatment to a large extent from their surgeons and nurses. Other studies have found expectations for nursing services centered on the desire to be treated humanely, help with adjustment as a member of the household, restore and increase the patient's strength, and help overcome the patient's weakness (Ferreira-umpiérrez A, Fort-fort Z. Fort has found expectations in nursing services centered on the desire to be treated humanely, help adjustment as a member of the household, heal and increase the patient's strength, and help overcome the patient's weaknesses.
