Hornell (1927, p. 37) mentions that green turtles are found at Aldabra in all months of the year; he gives evidence of this in the form of capture notes from Aldabra and Assumption (pp. 32 and 33). An important factor that selects for clutch maintenance during mating is competition for females. First, matings at Tortuguero and Ascension are not seen during the later part of the nesting season.
Second, during copulation two notches are cut by the male's pollex claws in the anterior marginal of the female's shell. From the descriptions of the other animals recorded by Gamble and Taylor, it appears that they were also subadults. In addition to these morphometric differences, there were color differences in some of the small animals.
Multiple authorities in the western Indian Ocean area have been informed of the tagging program and it is planned to continue. My period is much longer, probably because it's from a nest in the cooler part of the year. Hendrickson (1958, p. 511) has shown that 'incubation' periods vary from one part of the year to another, depending on environmental conditions.
It is known that clutch size and female size are often highly correlated in reptiles (Graham 1969; Goin & Goin 1962). The parameters evaluated were: (a) amount of dark pigment, expressed as the percentage of the entire surface of a scute occupied by dark pigment; (b) amount of black pigment, expressed as the percentage of the dark pigment occupied by black; A 'concentration' is a noticeably large area of dark pigment in the posteromedial corner of the scute.).
In the last century and the earlier part of the present, writers noted that far more women than men were captured overall (eg Hornell 1927, p. 32). It is clear, however, that whatever additional stimuli may be at work, the brightness of the horizon is very important. The conclusion is, if the assumptions are correct, that the number of hawksbills has not decreased since the last part of the last century.
Thus, the appearance of a carrion at Aldabra on 11 June 1968 appears to be the first confirmed record of the species for this locality. Thus, both the measurements and the condition of the gonads indicate that the animal captured at Aldabra was an adult. The appearance of this animal at Aldabra is important in evaluating theories about the movement and distribution of the species.
There are apparently no locality records for this species in the Seychelles; but from the descriptions of the turtles it seems that it does occur, but very rarely.
Thus, the green turtle in Seychelles is important as: a source of meat for local consumption; Calipee for foreign export; whole animals, dried meat and fins for export and local consumption; small quantities of eggs for local consumption; and an occasional fish pool. In obtaining these shields the animal is slaughtered (apparently there is no attempt to remove the shield from the live animal and return it to the sea as is done in other parts of the world (see Carr 1952, p. 371, and Deraniyagala). 1939, p. 189 .Aside from the epidermal shields, the only other valuable items of the hawk's beak are a few small pieces of the callipea; the rest of the animal is discarded.
It would be in the interest of the Government and the people of Seychelles to develop a simple test to determine the edibility of meat from this species. The clothing head may be in the same category, but there is not enough data to tell at this time. The only item used from the log head was its calipee; the epidermal shield, the flesh, internal organs—indeed, the entire rest of the animal—were discarded.
Honegger 1967; Hirth, F.A.O. 1967) have examined the status of the green turtle in the Seychelles area and strongly recommended immediate and comprehensive conservation measures. From the section dealing with population size it can be seen that the unanimous recommendation of these authors has considerable content; The green turtle has declined dramatically over the past century in Aldabra. However, an effort must be made to avoid overexploitation of this species and the destruction of the turtle fishery.
Accurate records of the numbers, sex and size of animals captured should be kept and these will enable intelligent breeding programs to optimize resources for long-term exploitation. 1 9 6 2 ~ Length-body weight relationship and size-sex relationship of the northeastern Pacific green turtle, Chelonia mydas carrinegra. 1968 The role of vision in the sea-search orientation of the green turtle (Chelonia mydas).

The reef platform consists of an area approximately twice that of the Cymodoceal Thalassia; however, the overall concentration of plants on the reef platform is much less (possibly a) than in the other two habitats.
