OSH CONCEPT AND HOW TO THE PREVENTION NAUFAL ILHAM SAPUTRA (2440020007)

OHSAS 18001 (2007) defines Occupational Health and Safety as conditions and factors that influence or will influence safety and health of workers (including contract workers and contractors) and also guests or other people who are at work. The Occupational Safety and Health (OSH) program is a system that designed to ensure the proper safety of all personnel on site work so as not to suffer injuries or cause illness in the workplace by complying with or complying with the laws and regulations of safety and health work, which is reflected in changing attitudes towards safety in the workplace

The 8 OSH principles that must be met include the following:

1. Safety is a moral responsibility.

2. Safety is a culture not just a program.

3. OSH is the responsibility of management.

4. Workers must be trained (guided) to work safely.

5. OSH is a reflection of labor conditions.

6. All accidents are preventable.

7. OSH program is specific.

8. OSH is good for business

Work accidents can be prevented by paying attention to several factors, include the following (Suma'mur, 2009) :

A. Environmental Factor

Work environment that meets the requirements for work accident prevention, namely :

1. Meets safe requirements, including general hygiene, sanitation, air ventilation, lighting and lighting in the workplace and air conditioning workspace.

2. Meet safety requirements, including building and workplace conditions which can guarantee safety.

3. Fulfilling housekeeping, including arrangements storage of goods, placement and installation of machines, use place and room.

B. Factor Machinery and Work Equipment

(2)

Machinery and work equipment must be based on good planning taking into account the applicable provisions. Good planning can be seen from preferably a safety fence or cover on machine parts or tools that movable, including rotating parts. When the fence or safety cover has been installed, it must be known with certainty whether the safety fence or cover is effective or not which can be seen from the shape and size that is suitable for the machine or tool as well as tools against which the safety of workers is protected.

C. Work Equipment Factor

Personal protective equipment is work equipment that must be fulfilled for workers.

Personal protective equipment in the form of work clothes, goggles, gloves, all of which must match the size so as to create comfort in use.

D. Human Factor

Prevention of accidents against human factors includes work regulations, taking into account the limits of the capabilities and skills of workers, negating matters which reduces work concentration, upholds work discipline, avoids actions that cause accidents and eliminate them physical and mental incompatibility Work accidents can also be reduced, prevented or avoided by applying program known as tri-E or Triple E, namely (Sedarmayanti, 2011):

1. Engineering (Engineering).

Engineering means the first action is equip all tools and machines with accident prevention devices (safety guards) for example buttons to stop the working of tools/machines (cut of switches) and other devices, so that they can be technically protected.

2. Education (Education).

Education means needing to provide education and training for employees to instill work habits and the right way of working in order to achieve a safe condition (safety) as much as possible.

3. Enforcement (Implementation).

Enforcement means implementation action, which gives assurance that accident control regulations held.
