34;Man shall not live by bread alone, but by every word that proceedeth out of the mouth of God." It is no parable, but a literal law of life. Yet the retina is a million times more beautiful than such a pile of stones. of the eye.
Our Faith by Emil Brunner
Is the Bible the Word Of God ?
In the same way, the prophets all speak of the one God, not only as eternal who is enthroned above all temporal change, the invisible spirit above all earthly matters, but as the One who has goals for man, which man does not depend on his own do not leave to fate. like some great nobleman who says: I can do without them; I can wait until they come to me. And yet -- there are some sounds made by the machine that are not the Master's voice, but the scratching of the steel needle on the hard drive.
The Mystery Of God
It is precisely this unconditional trustworthiness from God that is the salvation of the world. We must keep this endless and merciful pursuit in focus with what we said about the majesty and holiness of God in order to understand the greatness of his love.
Creation and The Creator
There is no religion in which there is not some kind of presumption about the Creator. That God is the Creator means: your Creator is the Lord of the world, your Lord, you belong to him totally.
God’s Plan for the World
Because we have no knowledge of the plan of the world, we are dull and apathetic. How different are God's plans from man's musings on the riddle of the world.
God and the Demonic Element in the World
It is enough for us to know that God, who rules in a way unthinkable to us in this crazy world, still rules through the cross of His son. We must hold on to this and give up the desire to decipher His will for ourselves from the darkness.
Eternal Election
The dogma of Double Predestination is a product of human logic, which cannot withstand the alogical teaching of Scripture. If it slips out of one or the other, it stops swinging.
The Mystery of Man
Elsewhere, the Bible says that God created man in his own image. Being made in God's image distinguishes him from all other creatures and makes him somewhat like God.
On the Goodness of Man
It is not that God does not see the difference between good and evil. It doesn't matter to him whether the student tries to write or scribble.
The Law
Of the one who gave the gift, as it should be read in the Parable of the Talents (Matt. 25). Something of the fear of God's holy majesty, the lawgiver, trembles in the narrative of this event (Ex. and rightly so.
The Ten Commandments and the Double Commandment
Everything that we should or should not do according to the will of God is contained in it. We were created by God so that we must answer Him in the Word of Love with which He called us into life.
The Ordinances of God
It is by the ordinances of God that there is fellowship among men, despite the prevailing waywardness that would completely separate us. The more conscious man becomes of his ability to shape his own life, the more these ordinances of God are endangered.
The Promise
The testament in the middle of Antiquity, the promise of the future servant of God, who takes upon himself the guilt of His people, bears their sorrow and by his suffering expiates the sin of man (Isaiah 53). God's Law is everywhere, God's Promise is only in the Bible -- the promise, that is, that God comes to His sick, rebellious people, to heal them, the message of the "Savior," healing, saving, forgiving and redeemed God.
Jesus The Christ
Of ourselves we do not know who we are; we don't know exactly what the Bible means when it says "God created man in his own image". Nor do we rightly know that we are sinners and lost creatures. 34; blessed are you, for flesh and blood did not reveal you, but my Father in heaven." When this happens, Christmas has truly arrived.
The Son of Man
The deepest cause of all that is not right is that we ourselves are not right. And so that's the biggest message we can hear -- things will work out for you.
The Son Of God
Only God possesses the Word, and no one can say, The Word of God comes from me, except God. He who says, Jesus is more than a prophet, Jesus is the Word of God - says, Jesus is not just a man like us, but He is God Himself.
The King
Therefore, the kingdom of God begins with him, the time of God's reign. 34 But all who received him gave him power to become sons of God.” Thank God the story of the husbandmen does not need to be repeated.
The Mediator
That meter, on which our feelings of guilt rise like the kilometers of the car, is God's instrument. This is exactly what God wants to tell us through the cross of his Son.
The Holy Ghost
It continues to break forth again and again in spite of the ashes, and it is the work of the Holy Spirit. An open door for my neighbor is love, the greatest miracle of the Holy Spirit.
Faith or Despair
Thanks be to God who gave us the victory.” It is, so to speak, a work of faith. Listen to the continuation of the quote: "Thanks be to God, who has given us the victory through our Lord Jesus Christ." This is victory; Jesus Christ is the Word of God, the Word with which the God of death and hell robs us of its power to make us despair.
By Faith Alone
This is more difficult than all the penances, prayers and good works of the pious pagans. 34. By faith alone, therefore, does not mean I, but God alone creates my salvation, my salvation, the saving and redeeming of the world; He alone is good, He alone brings about the desired end – “with our might nothing can be done;” – which means that we must rely on God alone, that we must make God our whole defense.
Conversion
There was one who could say of himself, "I have not come to be served, but to serve." It was the decisive event in the entire history of mankind: Jesus Christ, who gave his life as a ransom for many and his blood for the forgiveness of sin. He does this by addressing you both as your Judge and as your Redeemer, as the one who "forgives all your iniquities and heals all your diseases." And this conversion takes place within you when you allow God to say to you what He wants to say to you.
Regeneration
Even at the birth of the child, both had their share; they go far back to the ancestors of the child, and all who are human beings have this double origin. 34; If anyone is in Christ, he is a new creature, the old has passed away, behold, all things have become new." The old man still remains visible, but under the shell of the old, the new lives and begins to throw away. dude.
On Christian Freedom
Luther knows what he's talking about -- the cross of Jesus Christ is the price that had to be paid for our freedom. When we are separated from God and try to stand on our own feet, we know that our situation is like that of the boy in the parable who said to his father; "Father, give me my inheritance" - then he went to the far country and fell on.
Prayer
No other judgment is possible for the man who does not know the God who speaks to us, -- in the sphere of our feelings. As surely as even the most modern man is a sinful man who cannot atone for his guilt, so surely is the Gospel of the Grace of God preached to him.
The Meaning Of Prayer
For a hundred men who are not afraid of the unfolding of the work, there are but few who undertake the burden of prayer. But all real prayer, I believe, will begin with the disciples' prayer: "Lord, teach us to pray!".
Fellowship
It is not enough that God's word is preached to you on Sunday if you are left alone for the rest of the week. If what was sown on Sunday is not cultivated in fellowship, it will soon be lost.
The Church
The Church rests on them; that is, on the message that they preached, on the message of Jesus, the Son of God, crucified and risen, the message of the kingdom and the kingdom of God. One army—whether in Switzerland or in America or in Japan, wherever people "call on the name of the Lord Jesus" at all times and in all places.
The Sacraments
So we cannot have the excuse that since the concrete appeals to us more than the abstract, we cannot understand the message of the Church. The purpose of the Word of God is indeed to overcome this loneliness by leading us out of our isolation into fellowship with one another.
Baptism
He "received us in love before we ever thought of Him." He gave us a name not written in any civil registry - child of God. 34; That everyone who believes in him..." Therefore we are not only baptized in the name of the Father and the Son, but also in the Holy Spirit.
The Lord’s Supper
It is this death that the Lord's Supper proclaims, this destruction by which we receive eternal life. It is precisely through this act of communion that we are told clearly that we can only get God's salvation together; not individually alone.
The Future
Something new is now in the world that was not here before, fellowship with God by faith, the peace of God that passes all understanding, life in fellowship with God and man, a life in the Holy Spirit. The kingdom of God actually exists wherever living faith and living love grow out of fellowship with God.
Afterward?
But we know that in a religious, certainly in a Christian book, we must expect to read a denial of the total destructive power of death, and that there is indeed eternal life. To doubt eternal life is to reject God's promises, to disobey God's word, to put our trust in our own understanding and senses.
The Last Judgment
The Judgment message informs us that God is to be taken seriously, that God will not be mocked. That is why the message of the Cross of Christ has been given to us, to show us the mercy of God with whom all things are possible.
On Life Eternal
That our life does not end in anything, but that eternal life awaits us, is the joyful message of Jesus Christ. Faith is the assurance that God has truly revealed his will to us in Jesus Christ, and that will is eternal life.
