The researcher read the paragraphs from the background of skripsi's study which was carefully analyzed. Another supporting finding is a research conducted by Mawardi (Fakultas Keguruan dan Ilmu Pendidikan van Gunung Rinjani University, 2014) titled “An Analysis of the Cohesion and Coherence of the Students' Narrative Writings in the English Language Education Department of Nahdlatul Wathan Mataram University”. Thus, the researcher concludes that coherence is a logical arrangement of sentences in making a paragraph. The main focus of this research was to discover cohesion and coherence in the background of students' writing. The researcher took 10 2019 Essays from the English Education program in the Library to be sampled.

The researcher collected the data and analyzed the phrases and sentences of the words which were written in the background of the script.

Discussion

Although repetition is the easiest relationship for readers to understand the sentences in the text. Ellipsis involves the deletion of a word, phrase or clause. it is the omission of parts of a sentence when it can be assumed from what has already occurred in the following. Here was the example on the use of ellipsis of cohesion devices found in the background of student made essays as follows:.

From example of background above, "and" is used to connect activities done at the same time. It is intended that item "on the other hand" in the background above is used to show inequality. First, second, third and last are used to show the chronological order of ideas in the text.

It can be meant that by using repetition of keywords used by students in the background of skripsi, the same words are still repeated in the paragraph or sentences. In short, it is allowed as long as it does not change the meaning of the paragraph, and also the repetition of the topic helps the reader stay focused and moving in the right direction. From the example above, the comparison or contrast paragraph appears, it focused two ideas as important ideas in the paragraph, namely the English pronunciation as the production and pronunciation as the reception that affects students' ability to communicate.
