Programme Foreword
It is our great pleasure to welcome you to the 1
stPharmaceutical Technology Seminar which will be held on 28-29 May 2012 at The Luxton Bandung. From 1997, GEA-NUS have been actively disseminating lucrative technology know-how in the field of pharmaceutical technology. This year, the seminar is co-organized with the School of Pharmacy – ITB, to attract more researchers and leaders in Indonesian pharmaceutical industries.
We encourage you to attend the seminar for the latest updates in pharmaceutical sciences, particularly in powder technology, while sharing the opportunity to meet established experts and future business colleagues. It is our hope that this first seminar will be a great start for the next Pharmaceutical Technology Seminar series to be held recurrently by the School of Pharmacy – ITB.

Speakers
Jurgen Boeckx obtained his master degree from the University of Leuven, Belgium, in electro-mechanical engineering. He worked for more than 15 years for GEA Courtoy in Belgium as R&D Manager. He now works for GEA Process Engineering China, Shanghai, where he is responsible for all business activities of GEA Courtoy for China and South-East Asia.
Sze Nam Chee is the sales manager of GEA Process Engineering Pte. Ltd. He is a pharmacist by training and obtained his PhD in Pharmaceutics from NUS. He worked for 2 years in the Centre for Drug Administration, Health Sciences Authority (Pharmaceutical Department, Ministry of Health then) and later joined GEA in 2005.
Paul Heng has a degree in Pharmacy and PhD in Pharmaceutics.
He is currently teaching at the Department of Pharmacy, NUS and is the Principal Investigator of GEA-NUS Pharmaceutical Processing Research Laboratory. His research interest is in pharmaceutical technologies, with focus on encapsulation, specialized delivery systems, particle characterization and processing.
Sarma Inguva has B.Sc. Dairy Technology in 1982 from the National Dairy Research Institute, Karnal, India. He has over 30 years experience in servicing / supporting high pressure homogenisers and applications in various industries including pharmaceutical and bio-technology. He is presently the Regional Director – Asia Pacific for GEA’s High Pressure Homogenisation business.
Dale Natoli who is President of Natoli Engineering Company, Inc., has over 35 years of worldwide experience in the tablet compression industry. Natoli published articles for major pharmaceutical trade publications and authored printed chapters in “Developing Solid Oral Dosage Forms,” the 3rd Edition of
“Pharmaceutical Dosage Forms: Tablets” and Vol. 15 of the
“Encyclopedia of Pharmaceutical Technology. Currently, he presents lectures for universities, pharmaceutical associations and tablet manufacturers worldwide. His topics of expertise include:
tablet design, tool configurations and troubleshooting.
Noviani Rustanto is currently serving as the Senior Area Technical Manager at Colorcon providing the technical support to the pharmaceutical industry in Indonesia. She previously served at PT.
Kalbe Farma Tbk. - Indonesia from which she gained her eleven years of pharmaceutical exposure mainly in the area of pharmaceutical product development ranging from immediate release to modified release dosage form. Noviani graduated with a Bachelor degree in Pharmaceutical Technology from the Bandung Institute of Technology (ITB) in 1995.
Dilwyn Patterson was educated at the University of Manchester, UK where he graduated with a PhD in materials science. He is currently the Technical Manager / Area Sales Manager for GEA Pharma Systems with technical support for the design of Aeromatic-Fielder process equipment and systems including sales in Ireland, Japan, Korea and Taiwan. Dilwyn has worked with the pharmaceutical industry for more than 20 years supplying granulation, drying, pelletizing and coating equipment and systems; and during this time has gained considerable experience in each of these technologies.
Harald Stahl owns a diploma in Physics and a PhD in Chemical Engineering. He worked for several years in the Pharmaceutical Development of Schering AG in Germany. Since 1995 he served within GEA in various positions. Presently he owns the position of a Senior Pharmaceutical Technologist of GEA Pharma Systems.
His main fields of interest within pharmaceutical technology are:
granulation, drying and coating, process scale up. He has also published more than 40 papers on various aspects of solid dosage forms.
Sundani N. Soewandhi has a degree in Pharmacy and Dr.rer.nat in Pharmaceutical Technology from Institute für Pharmazeutische Technologie der TU Braunschweig, Germany, in 1983. He has been active since in teaching and research in the School of Pharmacy, ITB, where he was given professor. His research interests include polymorphism and crystal engineering of active pharmaceutical ingredients, water-soluble coating materials, and direct- compressible excipients.
