In addition, it has various ways to fight against oppression, injustice and other male supremacy. Firdaus is clearly one of the feminist characters portrayed throughout the novel as the story fully portrays her struggle to fight the patriarchy. This research analyzes how Firdaus responds and/or fights against patriarchal culture through the first phase of feminism as envisioned by Carol Gilligan.

According to Carol Gilligan (as cited in Rosemarie Tong, care-centered feminism is a moral evaluation of women that relates to self-interest as a form of combating injustice. Also, this research is not only used to apply theory, but also to test and revise care-focused feminism. As a result of patriarchy, there is a response and movement to fight for it, which is called the feminist movement. According to Humm, feminism is a movement to get justice for women's rights and it is also a form of ideology to create a world for women.

In this research, the researcher examines how Firdaus struggles using Carol Gilligan's care-focused feminism. According to Gilligan, "Care-focused feminism divides into three stages, they are pre-conventional, conventional and post-conventional" (1985: 8). The focus of this research is to prove the effort of Firdaus character in Woman at Point Zerothrough these stages which can be considered as a movement of a woman by plotting the character effort as depicted in the novel in Carol Gilligan stages.

Theoretical Approach

In short, balance exists when the needs of the self meet the conformity between the self and others. On the other hand, the second potential, which is imbalance, occurs when a woman's needs do not meet what is within society's understanding. In short, an imbalance occurs when the needs of the self do not meet conformity and this can create a dilemma for the woman.

At this stage, the meaning of the post-conventional is where the feminine self becomes the arbiter of all needs. This means that at this stage the woman is making a decision about the needs she has discovered in her life despite the balance and imbalance she has experienced. The purpose of this research is to analyze whether the struggles carried out by Firdaus can be categorized as feminist through the levels of Carol Gillian.

This research is done by filling the stages with the battles that Firdeusi has done in practical and ideological terms.

Research Organization

The conclusions include some final points related to Firdaus' feminism as depicted in Nawal El-Saadawi's novel.

Conclusion

It could be a suggestion for the future researcher to use Gilligan's theory or others. The researcher found the missing link that is considered a new perspective on the feminist struggle in Woman at Point Zero, such a psychological violence called dilemma. These missing links compliment several previous studies on the analysis of Woman at Point Zero.

Moreover, the dilemma found in Firdaus's struggle is a sign that the feminist struggle is a complex struggle that cannot be fixed as a definite model. It happens because the feminist struggle cannot be monopolistic as it has complex and different forms.
