PREFACE
The development of the world demands changes in the environment from time to time, and this condition can not be avoided, for that the academic world is required to always be ready and watchful for this condition. This challenge makes the Journal of Environmental Science and Sustainable Development (JESSD) continue to be consistent with the focus of environmental studies until now. Starting with the inaugural edition in 2018, JESSD continues to be aware and focus on environmental studies and sustainable development in developing countries, especially for Southeast Asia countries.
In this issue of Volume 2 Issue 1, we present eight scientific articles from various parties, with various studies on the environment and sustainable development. The authors of these eight articles came from various universities namely Kyoto University (Kyoto, Japan), Musamus University (Merauke), Bogor Agriculture University (Bogor), Universitas Pelita Harapan (Tangerang), and Universitas Indonesia (Jakarta); and from one of the government agencies, that is The Geospatial Information Agency (Cibinong, West Java).
The eight articles consist of studies of oil spills, conservation of water resources, monitoring of tropical peat ecosystems, fractionation of soil microelements related to soil profile of forest areas, municipal solid waste studies, polycentric waste management systems, impact of digital fabrication in architectural designs that affect the environment, as well as efforts to utilize solid waste. We hope, the variety of publications in our journal can contribute to the review of scientific information, and its development in the future. The readers can access all articles through the link http://jessd.ui.ac.id/issue/2. Moreover, through this, we invite academics, practitioners, and even stakeholders to be able to enrich the repertoire of environmental studies by sending their writings to our editorial team for the next edition.
This issue also cannot be separated from various parties who helped, for that we would like to express our sincere thanks to the entire team of editors and reviewers who have taken the time, mind and energy to jointly manage this journal, and also to the website management team, Indonesian journal volunteers, and KPPRI (Office of Research and Innovation Product Management) at the Universitas Indonesia for all their assistance in technical matters that we must go through. Besides that, also our thanks to the School of Environmental Sciences, Universitas Indonesia, for continuing to support our work. Finally, enjoy exploring, and let us together add to the repertoire of our knowledge by sharing.
