were all in shallow water, weremade by
Messrs. Stearns, B. S. Barrows,Edwin
B. Flint, J.A. Allen,and
Charles L.Flint,jr.The
collectionwas made
at differentpoints alongthe coastfrom ForteauBay
toDead
Island.The

eight females, all carrying eggs.All the specimens
have
the dorsal edge of the rostrum justas inH.
Fabricii, thatis, wholly
unarmed
except nearthebase,nearlystraight,and
horizontal.Although
allthe specimens are rather large, seven ofthem haye
only three teeth onthe dorsalcrest,two
on the carapax,and
one on the rostrum, while the other specimen has butfour teethin all.Two
ofthespecimenshave
awell-developed epipodatthe baseof one of thethird pairoflegs, onehas awell-developed epipodatthe base of each ofthethirdpair of legs, while the other specimens are, as usual, withoutepipodsatthebases of thethird pair oflegs. In other respects thespecimensare normal. Thesecharacters,withthelength,areshown
