SEVENTY ONE SHADES OF GREEN

WHICH GREEN IS A ‘GREEN ARCHITECTURE’?

Veronica Soebarto¹*

What should be the limit of resources used for the construction and operation of a 'green' building. Although this article is discussed last, it is argued that achieving a 'green' design must start with involving the (future) users of the building.

ADAPTATION PATTERN OF SOCIAL INTERACTION FROM HORIZONTAL TO VERTICAL HOUSING

TENGAH FLAT

Since social interaction is a key to creating cohesion (Purwanto and Wijayanti, 2012), any living environment is expected to facilitate social interaction needs of the residents (Sumiarto, in Anwar 1998). It is therefore clear that the social background has a great impact on social interaction adjustment pattern formed by apartment residents. Those formulations of use pattern of common space generate indicators to identify adaptation pattern of social interaction in apartments, they are:1.

The questionnaire is based on activity pattern including activity type, intensity and duration of social interaction activity;. There is some increase in social interaction intensity after they move to the apartments, from 42.9% to 46.2%. Locality pattern of social interaction activity in both horizontal and vertical neighborhood is relatively the same.

The result of the comparison of social interaction patterns in both horizontal and vertical housing can be seen in Table 6. Based on the comparison results in Table 7, the time course pattern of social interaction in both horizontal and vertical housing are relatively the same.

The slum has a greater negative impact on river quality, mainly due to waste and waste water. Many programs addressing the need for clean water and wastewater treatment have been implemented to reduce those problems. The housing infrastructure in this case is limited in terms of water supply, wastewater and solid waste, streets and canalization, which directly impact the quality of life and the environment.

Sewage and solid waste from domestic activities are the most polluting elements of fresh water and soil. In many developing countries, sewage and solid waste constitute the majority of pollutants in water. It is clear that settlement infrastructure, especially water availability, water supply and waste water treatment has played an important role in realizing sustainable environment.

The water is taken from the upper reaches of the main Cikapundung River and is then used to flush household sewage. This research shows serious environmental problems in this housing development. waste water management in addition to settlement security due to fire hazard, disease and health needs to be addressed to support sustainable settlement.

THE PATH LESS TRAVELLED: VERTICAL CIRCULATION SPACES IN APARTMENT BUILDINGS

IN THE SUBTROPICS

Rosemary Kennedy¹*

The energy consumed by elevators contributes significantly to the energy budget of the typical MSAB (GBCA, 2009). The purpose of this article is to present data and discussion on how aspects of the access and circulation spaces of multi-storey residential buildings influence the daily lifestyle of residents. Empirical research on high-rise housing satisfaction and socio-environmental factors is largely concerned with residents' perceptions of a mix of factors, from the management of the building complex to the characteristics of collective areas of MSABs.

According to a study conducted in Seoul (Lee, Je, & Byun, 2011) residents' perceptions of the quality of collective areas in MSAB are indicated by maintenance, availability of daylight and good air quality, safety and security (freedom from threats external) convenience of use and the ability to control the intensity of interactions with neighbors. The physical configuration of the stairs in relation to the main building means that they are also visible from the entrance corridors and this incidental surveillance is a powerful factor in the occupants' perception of safety (Figs. 5 and 6). Significantly, the study reveals some of the different approaches to ladder design and management expectations over a period of five decades.

Also, as well as emergency evacuation procedures, the design of shared circulation spaces and access systems must take into account the characteristics of the resident population and their expectations of safety and security in normal building use. This paper has shown that barriers to positive change are literally built into the fabric of the residential environment, and that rethinking various aspects in the development, design and occupation of multi-storey apartment buildings is necessary to overcome entrenched barriers. more sustainable practice.

THE ROUTE AND JOURNEY OF TREE HOUSES

Evawani Ellisa¹*, Gita Andriani²**

It has been declared a Grade I listed historic building, and is the oldest example of a tree house in the world. To experience life in a treehouse, we decided to live in the real treehouses and conducted an interactive participant observation. By living in the treehouse of TBMK, we accepted the challenge to witness ourselves to the sensation of the experienced space defined by Bollnow.

We could feel the energy that the tree gives itself to make the tree house a part of the living tree. We enjoyed the feeling of satisfaction that we were in the tree house because we could. However, the feeling of tightness seemed paradoxical with the freedom offered by the openness of the woods surrounding the tree house.

Referring to Bachelard, the tree house of TBMK indeed has the primary function of the house, to protect and shelter. Unlike the tree house at TBMK, this tree hotel is not associated with adventure and freedom.

  • MENTAL-MAPPING THE URBAN-IMAGE OF SEMARANG OLD CITY
  • CONCLUSION

One of the efforts to revive the old city area conveyed in this article is to prepare a mental map of the Old City of Semarang based on the viewpoint of various communities in the city of Semarang. Heritage area of Semarang Old City is one of the most outstanding Dutch colonial building complex in Indonesia. But in this journal, a study is carefully conducted to understand the mental mapping of the observer while walking around the Heritage Area of Semarang Old Town.

This is understandable, as most of the landmarks and important activities in the Old City are concentrated along this path. After the fort was dismantled, the mass of the building looks like a rampart, forming an imaginative fortress surrounding the Semarang Old City area. Building owned by state-owned enterprises - Rajawali Nusindo dominates the edge in the southern part of the old town.

The main maps can also be used as a reference for the development plan of the old city of Semarang. Determination of the five elements town located in the old town area of Semarang can be a starting point of development.

REDUCING CAUSES OF WOMEN’S FEAR OF CRIME IN UNDERGROUND STATION: THE IMPORTANCE OF

GOOD SURVEILLANCE AND WAYFINDING

Elita Nuraeny¹*, Enira Arvanda²*

Feeling safe and fear of crime are highly affected by the environment of the transport nodes. WOMEN AND THE FEAR OF CRIME IN UNDERGROUND TRANSPORT Fear of Crime in Public Space. From the perspective of fear of crime in public space, this connection between station and other buildings will surely increase the number of surveillance.

In addition, most of the station's connecting lines lead to a busy area, increasing the possibilities of informal surveillance and reducing the fear of crime in this station. To understand the safety and comfort of reducing fear of crime for women, the analysis will focus on the surveillance and signage of Senayan Station. This situation will increase the opportunities for crime and the fear of crime, especially during peak hours.

Moving these two entry/exit lanes can increase the amount of positive surveillance while reducing women's fear of crime. By paying more attention to women's needs to reduce fear of crime in underground public spaces, safety and comfort can be achieved for all (Arvanda, et al, 2014).

IN DWELLING : THE TRADITION OF EATING ACTIVITIES ON URBAN MINANGNESE

Vania Dwi Amanda Surya¹*, Rossa Turpuk G.²**

Eating activities is one of the activities that have a strong tradition and custom in Minangnese and could also be seen until now. This tradition of eating activities is also brought to their new destination city, although this tradition is not exactly the same as in the original location. The tradition of eating activities that will be discussed is the tradition of daily eating activities.

Also, there is no separate room for dining activities and the owner uses the living room as an area for dining activities, while Mrs. Differences in the types of houses affect the arrangement of spaces and affect not only the place of eating but also the tradition of eating activities. This means that the eating area for eating is not specified by Minangnese, but it is created as a result of the eating activities themselves (Lawson, 2001) and as an extension of the body (Dorty, 2000).

The use of element interior is also changed wy to make the tradition of eating activities at urban Minangnese. In addition, the differences of the house types also affect the layout of the room in the house, and the tradition of eating activities also gets impacts from them.

DEVELOPMENT OF SEA DWELLING: BAJAU TRIBE

Although there are differences with the inland communities, their culture related to the sea produces a form of living culture that cannot be separated from the elements of vernacular architecture. This heterogeneous nature allows the connection between life at sea and on land. That predicate is linked to social groups that live sustainably inside the boat and wander on the sea.

Meanwhile, Magellan noted that the Bajau have been living as sea people since the early 16th century (Ahimsa, 1995). The Wakatobi, Bajau tribe are the people of the sea with many versions of stories and myths about their origins. The Bajau tribe, or the Sama tribe, have similar lifestyles and languages, although their settlements are scattered.

Aldo Rossi and Rafael Moneo examined Quatremere de Quincy's definition of type: "the idea of an element which itself must serve as a rule for the model." Moneo interprets this as the inherent structural and formal order that allows architectural objects to be grouped together, differentiated and repeated." The purpose of typing the material is to find patterns that appear on the settlement.
