This species belongs to the Section Loxosiphon, and is readily distin- guished from

any

other species of that group

by

its subcylindric heads.

The

sectionalcharacter* requires a slightmodification to cover the ciliate

wingsoftheachenein this species,a featurenotpreviously

known

in this section. According to the collectors' note, Notoptera leptocephala is re- portedtobeused medicinally.
