Awards & Scholarships
By awarding degrees “with distinction” or “with the highest distinction,” the School of Engineering and Technology recognizes the outstanding academic performance of selected associate and bachelor's degree candidates. A candidate for the bachelor's degree with honors must have completed a minimum of 65 hours of credit in the Purdue University or Indiana University system.
General Requirements
At least 12 of the 32 credit hours must be completed in the major at the junior level or higher. At least half of the required courses for the minor will be completed in residence at IUPUI.

Biomedical Engineering (BME)
In addition to these participating academic units, the program operates in close collaboration with several centers and facilities on campus, and with the Department of Biomedical Engineering at Purdue University, West Lafayette. The purpose of these electives is to provide depth of education in a specific subdiscipline of Biomedical Engineering.

Candidates for this certificate are required to be formally admitted by the IUPUI Office of Admissions, but are not required to be students in the Purdue School of Engineering and Technology. Developed in collaboration with the Northeast Indiana Section of the American Society for Quality Control, this certificate program provides training and instruction in the use of statistical quality control measuring instruments and techniques. Candidates for this certificate are required to be formally admitted by the IUPUI Office of Admissions, but not required to be students in the Purdue School.

Applications for graduation must be completed one semester prior to completion of the required curriculum. In addition to demonstrating instrument performance skills, an applicant may bring hard copy materials or computer-based demonstrations to illustrate skills and experiences in any of the other areas noted above. Please contact the department with questions about audition expectations or how to best present material in front of the audition committee.
S. in Music Technology
Upon receipt of the completed application, letters of recommendation, transcript, proof of musical knowledge, and interview, the IU Graduate Admissions Committee of the Department of Music and Art Technology at IUPUI may grant regular admission, grant probationary admission, or deny the application. . 6 credit hours of approved courses (at the 400 level or higher) in a related field or other fields with the approval of the head of graduate studies Minimum grade point average. Students may choose to complete the remaining six (6) credit hours with an emphasis in one of the following areas: music, business, communications, computer science, education, fine arts, law, or other with departmental approval.
S. in Music Therapy
Non-native speakers must demonstrate English language proficiency with a minimum TOEFL score of 550/79. International students will also need to meet the application requirements of the IUPUI Office of International Affairs. Six (6) credit hours are required in an approved related field within or outside the Department of Music and Arts Technology. Graduate Programs in Mechanical Engineering The Department of Mechanical Engineering has an outstanding and dedicated faculty with expertise and research interests in the areas of advanced manufacturing, bioengineering and biological systems, combustion and new engine design, design optimization, fluid mechanics , heat transfer, hybrid and electric vehicles, material processing, mechanics and vibrations,. The department offers graduate study programs leading to various graduate certificates and the degrees of Master of Science (M.S.), Master of Science in Engineering (M.S.E.), Master of Science in Mechanical Engineering (M.S.M.E.) and Doctor of Philosophy (Ph.D.) . The program leading to the Ph.D. in mechanical engineering is administered jointly with the School of Mechanical Engineering at Purdue University, West Lafayette.

The faculty was actively engaged in the frontiers of research and technology in real engineering challenges in the above mentioned fields. The department also offers combined undergraduate and graduate degree programs in which students can earn both a B.S. and M.S. degree in five years at IUPUI. Combined degrees prepare students for advanced engineering careers with two degrees (bachelor's and master's) in five years.
Communication (TLC)
Students can apply these courses to courses in the Organizational Leadership and Supervision Program. Applicants for this certificate must be formally admitted through the IUPUI Office of Admissions, but do not have to be a student at the Purdue School of Engineering and Technology. A maximum of 6.0 credits of comparable transfer credit completed in other programs or at other colleges and universities may be applied to this bachelor's degree program.
