The School of Science is making a $3 million deposit; we are making arrangements to lend some of the money to the School of Science. There's a reason the campus count is relatively low... the IU Kelley School of Business MBA program was transferred to the Bloomington campus, meaning a loss of about 900 students. Hovde recommended that the Faculty Affairs Committee will attempt to implement these updated evaluations by the end of the spring semester.

Hovde noted that the main difference is that most clinical faculty members should be off-campus, in a community, professional association. Hovde noted that because of the confusion, the board is considering creating a chart of all clinical lines. Barb Christe noted that the BMET associate degree is one of the few associate degrees the school still offers.

A new website is available on the chancellor's website that summarizes all campus construction projects. We anticipate that $1 million per year will come from the campus, and the remaining debt will be paid from indirect reimbursement funds for both schools in proportion to the space each occupies. 2 Effective July 1, 2010, UITS will refund 60% of funding for equal FTE and hourly positions.

3 Effective July 1, 2011, UITS will refund 30% of funding for the same FTE and hourly positions.

Nominations Committee

This committee will review and advise the Dean through the Senate on matters such as planning and optimal utilization of the physical facilities of the University, including buildings, scientific and other equipment, library and educational aids. In addition, this committee will conduct regular reviews of faculty development grants, school development grants, and staff grants and make recommendations on policies and procedures for these grants.

Undergraduate Education Committee

Graduate Education Committee

The chairman of the committee is elected annually by the Senate from among the members of the committee. This committee will provide for the orderly functioning of the graduate programs offered by this Faculty and serve as liaison between this Faculty, the IUPUI Graduate Affairs Committee and the Purdue University Graduate Council. The committee will review and recommend to the Senate and the appropriate Board actions necessary to expand, develop, or change the pattern of graduate education.

The committee coordinates all graduate curricula in the Faculty of Engineering and Technology, with departments reserving the right to act on curricular matters and changes to programs and degrees.

Constitution and Bylaws Committee

Budgetary Affairs Committee

The instructor provided regular feedback that helped me evaluate my course progress (eg quizzes, graded assignments/projects, etc.). The instructor covered as much course material as I thought was appropriate to meet the course objectives. The flexibility of a distance learning class was the primary reason I took this course online.

Purdue School of Engineering &Technology IUPUI Guidelines for Peer Review of Teaching

  • Introduction
  • Rationale
  • Guidelines
  • Summary

These first and second year grades are confidential and the property of the lecturer, unless the lecturer wishes to share them with the department for their annual review or other similar purposes. Final summative review reports will be sent to the faculty member and the department and school. Peer evaluations are initiated by a faculty member with a written description that is forwarded to the department for comments.

The department should be aware of the types and forms of ongoing peer review that can support promotion and tenure. Also, upon adoption of the guidelines set forth in this document by the School Senate, this document will be adopted as an addendum to the E&T promotion and tenure guidelines for guidelines for the promotion of clinical rank appointments. The termination notice will be made known to the appointee at least three months before the end of the current appointment.

During the probationary period, the department chair and department primary committee will review the appointee annually. After the 3rd and 5th year of initial appointment, the initial department committee and school unit committee will review the appointee. University, campus, school, and departmental faculty salary policies will apply to clinical faculty.

Participation in university and campus faculty governance is governed by the Indiana University Faculty Constitution and the faculty bylaws on each campus. EXPLANATION AND COMMENTARY: The University Faculty Constitution defines voting faculty as “all faculty members who are tenured or accumulating credit for tenure.” The Constitution further states that “the voting members of individual campuses may confer upon others the right to vote on matters of individual campus interest.” The rationale for the division of rights and privileges is to leave the responsibility for preserving the most fundamental academic interests of the institution to those who enjoy the greatest protection of their academic freedom for the purposes of teaching, research and service, including the faculty management service; That is, initial clinical appointments should be at a level appropriate to the individual's experience and performance.

Promotion in rank of Assistant and Associate Clinical Professors must go through the normal faculty procedures appropriate for the unit of the university, including peer review by the primary unit, and campus promotion (and tenure) committees. After the probationary period, dismissal of a clinical faculty member who has a longer-term contract that has not expired may occur as a result of closure or permanent downsizing of the program in which the faculty member teaches and serves;. EXPLANATION AND NOTE: Probationary periods for part-time faculty may be longer than seven years, where regulations adopted by the faculty of the academic unit so determine.

For the associate degree, it is expected that at least 6 out of the 15 credits will be in the main subject. For the bachelor's degree, it is expected that at least 12 out of the 32 credits in the major will be at junior level or higher.
