That same year, Purdue University programs and Indiana University programs in Indianapolis merged to become Indiana University-Purdue University in Indianapolis - IUPUI. The School of Engineering and Technology was established at IUPUI in 1972 and is currently one of the largest schools at IUPUI, growing from a few students in 1945 to over 2,000 in 1978.

ADMISSION
Many prospective students may be eligible to begin their degree program in the Faculty of Engineering and Technology at a higher level. Credit for courses at the Faculty of Engineering and Technology will be awarded for work of an equivalent nature and scope successfully completed at another accredited faculty.
ACADEMIC REGULATIONS
Students may withdraw from classes during the third quarter of a semester or session if they obtain the approval of their supervisor and the instructor of the subject; a grade of "Wn" will be assigned by the instructor of the course concerned. Students may withdraw from classes during the last quarter of a semester or session if they obtain the approval of their supervisor, the instructor of the course, and the Dean; a grade of "Wn" will be assigned by the instructor of the course concerned.

Craduation With Distinction
A candidate for the baccalaureate degree with distinction must have earned at least seventy credit hours at a school of Purdue University. A candidate for an associate degree with distinction must have earned at least forty-five credit hours at a school of Purdue University.
GRADUATION REQUIREMENTS
Credit in these additional courses must be earned within three years of the date on which all degree requirements, except the minimum graduation index, have been met. Substitution of courses required for graduation can be done by the dean of the school.

The University has also arranged for an optional health insurance plan to supplement the services provided by the SEHSClinic. Part-time students may be treated on a fee-for-service basis in the Student Employee Health Service.
Financial Aids
The purpose of this program is to encourage and promote part-time work of students in higher education institutions who need the income from such work. The work-study program is available at IUPUI and a student who has been admitted to the university can apply through the Student Services Office.
STUDENT WELFARE
The IUPUI Placement Office provides assistance in locating job opportunities and maintains current job opportunity information. Although the University does not control off-campus housing facilities, the Department of Housing maintains a list of rooms and small private house apartments.

BACHELOR'S DEGREE PROGRAM
The student will, with the permission of his advisor, select his upper-level computing courses from the currently available group of upper-level courses." This will be done before the end of the student's fifth semester. A minimum of 42 of the 130 semester The hours required for graduation must be 300 courses or higher; a minimum of 24 of these 42 hours must be taken in computer concentration.
DEPARTMENT OF CONSTRUCTION TECHNOLOGY
This program is designed to prepare students for employment in civil engineering firms, construction firms, surveying firms, testing laboratories, materials suppliers, city engineering offices and highway departments. Graduates are prepared to accept positions in the office as estimators, schedulers, planning and management.

DEPARTMENT OF INDUSTRIAL EDUCATION BACHELOR'S DECREE PROCRAMS
A "no-Ioss-of-credit" plan is available to students in the industrial arts curriculum who plan to enter industrial or business careers. One track involves demonstrated business competence based on prior work experience for which the student may be awarded up to 32 semester hours of credit toward their degree.

MECHANICAL DRAFfING-DESIGN TECHNOLOGY
Mechanical Engineering Technology deals with the generation, transmission and utilization of mechanical and fluid energy and the design and production of tools and machines and their products. Graduates of associate degrees in Mechanical Engineering Technology are eligible for certification as Associate Engineering Technicians.
BACHELOR'S DEGREE PROGRAMS
The students enrolled in the program will alternate semesters between school and industry beginning after their first semester. Students in the program realize financial rewards along with increased motivation to apply the knowledge gained in the classroom to their work.

ASSOCIATE DEGREE PROGRAM
Transfer program in the School of Consumer and Family Sciences at the West Lafayette Campus (formerly the School of Home Economics). Students wishing to enter one of the programs offered by these departments may begin their academic studies at the Indianapolis Campus and transfer to the West Lafayette Campus to complete the remaining degree requirements.

A survey of power transformers, single and polyphase circuits, and an introduction to the National Electrical Code. Electrical Distribution Systems is a study of the design and operation of industrial electrical distribution systems.
ENGINEERING GRAPHICS
A study of digital logic, number systems and codes, memory, microprocessor architecture, interfaces, software, 6080 microprocessor, 6800 microprocessor, F-8 microprocessor, and selected peripherals. A study of physiological systems with emphasis on the measurement of biopotentials such as electrocardiogram, electroencephalogram and electromyogram as well as electrical safety and biotelemetry will be covered in the lecture and laboratory.
FOODS AND NUTRITION
The solution is a computer printout of all desired voltages and currents in the electrical circuit. These include estimated demand calculations, power factor improvement, electrical rates, voltage drop, protective devices, lighting and the applicable portions of the National Electrical Code.

A study of relevant instruction included in vocational cooperative education programs in public schools. A survey of the fundamentals of time study and work measurement with actual practice in their use.
