Relationship and Meaning
In the context of reading ethnography, realtionships and meanings are important concept to consider. Ethnography is made of relationships and even when the observations the ethnographer writes of take place between others in the field, the relationships between those indivviduals and the ethnographer are also important. (Tavory, 2019)
Ethnographic representation is also seen as a relationship between the writer and the reader, with both distance and cryptic phrasings being common (Gergen, 2002)
Understanding the central conventions of ethnographic wrtiting is important for reading ethnography (Gay & Wardle, 2007)
Relational anthropology is a form of inquiry that emphasizes reflexive dialogical aspects of research relationships (Simon, 2013; Desmond, 2014)
Abstracting relational pattern as a basis for comparison in the context of reading ethnography involves identigying patterns of relationships between individuals or groups in different ethnographic studies and comparing them. This approach is based on the idea that ethnography is made of relationships and that understanding these relationships is immportant for understanding the cultures and societies being studied. (Gergen, 2002)
