TABOO GAME ABOUT THE SPEAKABILITY OF STUDENTS IN THE SEVENTH GRADERS AT SMP MA'ARIF 1 METRO. TABOO GAME ON THE SPEAKING SKILLS OF STUDENTS AT THE SEVENTH GRADERS OF SMP MA'ARIF 1 METRO. The main aim of this research was to know the influence of taboo play on the speaking skills of the students at SMP Ma‟arif 1 Metro.

Sampel penelitian ini terdiri dari 27 siswa kelas VII SMP Ma'arif 1Metro. Tujuan utama penelitian ini adalah untuk mengetahui pengaruh permainan tabu terhadap keterampilan membaca siswa di SMP Ma'arif 1 Metro. Metode penelitian ini adalah penelitian kuantitatif dalam bentuk desain pra eksperimen yang dilakukan di SMP Ma'arif 1 Metro.

In this study, the researcher used the taboo game as a medium to teach students speaking skills. Therefore, the researcher put together a graduation thesis entitled 'The influence of taboo play on the speaking skills of students in the seventh grade of SMP Ma'arif 1 Metro'. The study's findings showed that taboo play can be helpful in improving students' speaking skills.

Another similarity lies in the objectives, because these two studies want to investigate the effect of the use of taboo games on the speaking skills of students. The aim of the study is to examine the implementation of taboo play to improve students' vocabulary mastery. The other similarity lies in the purpose, as these two studies are designed to test the effect of using taboo games on students' speaking skills.

Teaching speaking is divided into the importance of speaker, audience and speaking material.12 This means that students must have good speaking skills when giving information or getting information. The main aspect of the practical process for the speaking test is how to test students' speaking skills.15 Students are tested by being forced to speak English. A tabu game is a game that requires some media, such as a timer, a buzzer (or a squeaky pet toy used as a buzzer), a small box to store hidden cards, a discard bin.16 This means that a tabu game is a game which requires complex educational media in addition to directing students to communicative play.

The Taboo Game is a guessing game that leads a student to have another student or group of students guess a word or concept on a card without using the word in question or a list of additional "taboos". Based on the explanation, a taboo game is a game played in groups or pairs and aims to guess words. In doing so, the students do not mention the word on the card under the main word.

The students are divided into 2 teams, and each team describes the main word without naming the child on the card and guessing the word. The teacher guides the students to make dialogue in English using the vocabulary learned through the taboo game. If the students' taboo game is very good, the grade of the students' speaking skills will also be very good.

If the student's taboo game is not very good, the student's speaking ability grade will not be very good either. Thus, there is no positive and significant influence of taboo play on students' speaking skills. Hypothesis Alternative (Ha): There is a positive and significant influence of taboo play on the speaking skills of seventh graders at SMP Ma‟arif 1 Metro.

Null Hypothesis (Ho): There is no positive and significant influence of taboo game on speaking ability for seventh grade students in SMP Ma'arif 1 Metro.

Moreover, based on the above explanation, in this research the researcher used the taboo game technique for a treatment for the seventh grade students of SMP Ma‟arif 1 Metro in the academic year 2020/2021. To answer the question "Is there any positive and significant influence of the taboo game on the speaking ability of the seventh grade in SMP 1 Ma'arif Metro?" The researcher applied inferential statistics to find the significant difference between the post-test in the experimental group. The result of this research is described based on the formulation of the problem: "Is there any positive and significant influence of the taboo game on the speaking ability of the seventh grade in SMP 1 Ma'arif Metro? in the Academic Year of.

In this study, the researcher performed a treatment by applying the taboo game in the research process. After obtaining the full data, the researcher examined the influence of taboo play on students' speaking skills using SPSS. 26,000 . that this study successfully demonstrates that there is a positive and significant influence of taboo play on speaking skills.

It means that from the above value there was any positive and significant impact of the taboo game on the speaking ability of students among the seventh grade in SMP Ma‟arif 1 Metro. The researcher has formulated the alternative hypothesis (Ha) as "There is a positive and significant influence of the taboo game on the speaking ability of students in the seventh grade at SMP Ma‟arif 1 Metro". This means that there was a positive and significant impact of the taboo game on students' speaking ability in seventh grade students at SMP Ma‟arif 1 Metro.

Therefore, the statistical hypothesis shows that the taboo game can have a positive and significant impact on students' speaking ability. Therefore, it is found that there is a positive and significant influence of the taboo game on the speaking ability of the seventh grade in SMP 1 Ma'arif Metro.

The students listened carefully to the teacher's explanation about the tableau with their respective teams.

RESEARCH RESULT AND DISCUSSION

The Description of Research Location

SMP Ma‟arif 1 Metro er placeret på Purwosari, North Metro, Lampung. Islamisk Uddannelse / Engelsk VII,VIII,IX 9 Imam Mualim, M.Ti M TIK VII ,VIII, X 10 Asna Milati Dewi, S.Pd F Science VII, VIII, IX.

The Description of Research Result

The researcher conducted a pre-test on August 25, 2022 by taking the speaking ability test to the seventh graders in SMP 1 Metro. In the pre-testing process, the researcher asked the students to dialogue in pairs on the theme of the things of the house. As a follow-up to the pre-test, the researcher had done the learning treatment with taboo play.

Afterwards, the students asked what they did not understand from the material that was explained earlier. In the treatment, the researcher taught how to ask and give information related to the names and numbers of animals, objects and public buildings. In the first treatment, the researcher taught the students to talk about things in the house, so the researcher gave 15 cards with the theme things in the house.

Meanwhile, in the second treatment, 15 taboo game cards were used with the topic of daily activity. This is because in the second treatment the researchers learned the topic of paper and provide information related to daily activities in the form of speaking activities. The researcher conducted a post-test on September 6, 2022 by administering a speaking proficiency test to class VII B students at SMP Ma'arif 1 Metro.

In the post-testing process, the researcher asked the students in pairs to have a dialogue with a predetermined theme, namely daily activity. Based on the result of the above post-test, it has been determined that the average mark is 55.

Testing of Hypothesis

2-tailed is higher than 0.05 and the t-value is lower than the f table, so the null hypothesis (Ho) is accepted and the alternative hypothesis (Ha) is rejected. Based on the SPSS result, it was investigated that the 2-tailed sig. result in this research is 0.00. In addition, the above table illustrates that the t-observed was 7.343 with degrees of freedom was 26 in the confidence interval of the difference 95%.

Discussion

Therefore, the statistical hypothesis shows that the tabu game can have a positive and significant effect on students' speaking skills because the t-observation value is higher than the t-value in the f-table. Therefore, we can conclude that this study shows that the taboo game has a positive and significant impact on students' speaking skills. The results of this study are relevant to Yususfa Kuncoro Bowo Susil's research results that taboo games have an effect.28 The results of his research showed that taboo games affect the value of sig.

This relevant research confirms that the use of taboo play is effective in learning to speak, as it can have a positive impact on students' speaking skills. In addition, this research is also relevant to research by Maria Graciela Wuri Nastiti and Yohana Veniranda that taboo play has an effect.29 The results of the research he conducted showed that taboo play had an effect on the value of sig. Their research shows that the taboo game is one of the useful games in learning to speak, as it can motivate and stimulate students to speak English.

The positive and significant effect of taboo on speaking is relevant to Claire Howell Major's theory.30 The taboo game has many benefits for the players of the game. In other words, we can say that the taboo game is one of the effective games to use in the learning process of English related to speaking skills.

In addition, this game is useful to guide students to develop their ideas by using the taboo game in the speaking process to explore their ideas in deep reflection. It is recommended that the principal supports teachers in using the taboo game in the learning process, because it can teach students speaking skills and make students more active. Using Taboo Game to Improve Vocabulary of Grade VIII Students of SMP Negeri 1 Semin Gunung Kidul”, Language Learning in the New Age / 2021.

2 Students are able to pay attention to the tabu card game which contains a main word and 3 sub-words. Students enthusiastically understand the tabu card game, which consists of a main word and 3 children's words related to objects in the house. 3 Students are able to pay attention and understand the taboo game explained and exemplified by the teacher.
