In addition, the primary sources of this research are the results of interviews with the students and English teacher. The secondary source in this research is from the books, journals, e-books, articles and documented data related to English teaching and learning at State Junior High School 7 Metro related to the research.

The researcher takes documents from the student's print media preferences in reading instruction. In the process of data collection, the researcher collects the results of students' preferences about print media in reading lessons.
In this research the researcher uses three techniques to collect data which are test, observation and documentation. In this research, the researcher observed the use of print mass media in the reading class of State Junior High School 7 Metro to analyze types of reading learning in English that encourage. Therefore, the researcher in this study used interviews to collect data from the students.

In the process of data collection, the researcher collected data in the form of evidence on the use of print media to promote the reading skills of seventh-grade students of State Junior High School 7 Metro in the academic year 2019/2020. In this case, the researcher will come to classes to observe and document the use of print media to promote reading skills in the seventh grade of the 7 Metro State Junior High School in the academic year 2019/2020. Therefore, the researcher focused on the data collected to answer the students' difficulties in using print media to promote reading skills.
The second, related to the causes of the difficulties, the researcher classified the data needed from interviews regarding the factors that cause problems in the use of mass printed media in reading literacy. The third, the researcher grouped the data according to the solution to answer and overcome the problem of printed mass media. The researcher showed data related to the answers to the research question using words, graphs, figures and diagrams to explain the answers of each research question in detail according to the correct interpretation.
