Summary of Assessment Report of the RSPO Certification

The company has FFB purchases from other sources on the software program (SMAWEB) dated 31 May 2016. The company has daily, monthly and yearly records for the amount of FFB received by Sungai Merah Mill. The company has SOP of Manuring (SOP/SMART/MCAR/IX/TA-PPK) to maintain soil fertility.

The company has been routinely monitoring the changes in nutrient status based on the regular soil sampling unit (SSU) and leaf sampling unit (LSU) analysis to determine the recommended fertilizers. The company has a nutrient recycling strategy that includes leaf utilization (pruning), wastewater application and EFB mulching.

Based on the table above, it could be concluded that the test results were lower than the indicated detection limit (pH 5-9 and BOD <5,000 mg/l). Based on field observations during harvesting, spraying and fertilization activities, it was concluded that there were no significant pest attacks. Based on document verification and observation of pesticide storage, there is no prohibited use of chemicals.

Moreover, based on observations at the hazardous waste storage site, it could be concluded that hazardous waste was stored in the permitted location. The company followed the RSPO requirement related to the new plant procedure and remediation and compensation procedure. Land rights process is still ongoing and there is a detail update progress documented by the company for each year. Furthermore, the company considered cooperation in terms of providing information requested by the Agency.

The company is said to still have temporary workers (PKWT) who have gradually progressed to permanent workers (PKWTT). The company is licensed for processing machinery such as boilers, generators, electrical installations, etc. There are no environmental issues in the company's area to be addressed by the Environment Agency.

The company has done the asset class assessment and received class II, last assessed in December 2018.
