Guidance & Counseling
Professional role development, evidence-based practice, theories of community-based nursing, nursing leadership and management are analyzed in combination with related research and applied to the evolving role of the nurse in an era of health care reform. Future trends for nursing leadership, management, ethics, and social policy roles are examined, with particular emphasis on the impact of health care reform. BSN Admissions Requirements
The graduate of the BSN program has a broad knowledge of the humanities, the biological and social sciences and nursing. Grades earned in transfer courses that have been accepted and applied to the required general education credit hours count toward the calculation of the Application GPA. For all repeated general and/or science courses, the repeated grade is the grade used in calculating the Application GPA for undergraduate students.
Accelerated Track Admissions Criteria
Must demonstrate a grade point average of 3.0 on a 4.0 scale for all general education courses applied to BSN degree. Students transferring coursework must have earned a grade of C (2.0) or higher for each completed required BSN general education course to be considered from a university other than Indiana University. Must have a minimum grade of C (2.0) in each required BSN general education course by the second attempt.
Academic Expectations &
To remain eligible for that admission cycle, students must complete the following sciences (with a laboratory component) before applications will be considered for the desired admission cycle: Anatomy, Physiology, and Microbiology. Students who meet the above admission criteria and apply for a specific admission cycle will be admitted based on previous academic performance and the strength of the statement of purpose in the pool of applicants. Students who do not enter this specific admission cycle may reapply for admission to a subsequent admission cycle.
Progression
Required BSN general education coursework may be completed at Indiana University or transferred from another college or university. Applicants for fall entry must have sciences completed by the end of the previous spring semester; applicants for spring admission must have sciences completed by the end of the previous summer session II; applicants for summer entry must have sciences completed by the end of the previous fall semester to remain eligible. Students transferring to Indiana University from another institution will have their transcript evaluated by the Admissions Office of Indiana University and the School of Nursing before determining admission eligibility.

Committee on Nursing Admission, Advancement and Graduation (APG) from the campus from which he or she was terminated. Students may advance to the next semester of coursework upon successful completion of all of the previous semester's designated nursing courses at the registered campus. Students who wish to be exempted from this practice must apply to the Admissions, Advancement and Graduation (APG) Committee.
RN-BSN Track
Reemployment will be based on faculty recommendations at the time of discharge and a proposed plan for future success, as well as the availability of resources. A readmitted student will be dropped if they fail (grade C or lower) one additional required course. Students who are readmitted must adhere to the policies and curriculum of the School of Nursing in effect at the time of readmission.

S.N. Admissions Requirements
An applicant who meets one or more of the criteria may be considered for admission on a probationary or conditional basis. The mobility option allows registered nurses to obtain a Master of Science in Nursing (MSN) degree without the award of the baccalaureate degree in nursing. Competitive scores (50th percentile and above) on the verbal and quantitative sections and a score of 3.5 or better on the analytical writing section of the Graduate Record Examination (taken within the past five years).

Courses fulfilling the advanced nursing practice requirement must be taken in or through the School of Nursing. Complete the School of Nursing Exit Survey, which is part of the intent to graduate. The School of Nursing is not responsible for certification for the degree if the student fails to submit the application.
Curriculum Design
Applicants must meet both the general requirements of the School of Nursing's master's program and the specific requirements of the specialty track. Complete all degree requirements within six years of the date the student begins course work. Post-Master's Option
Complete a minimum of 42 credit hours of coursework (43 for Acute Care Nurse Practitioner Program), depending on track, and meet departmental requirements. Achieve a grade point average of 3.0 by the time the student has completed 42 credit hours of coursework as required by the major department. The decision to accept the documentation provided is based on determining the equivalence of this prior knowledge and skills that the student is expected to demonstrate upon completion of a specific course.

Before enrolling in nursing courses, the faculty expects that nursing students will be able to use computers well enough to log on to the Internet to access class content. Students must also be able to log into an email account to communicate with other students and faculty, and to use a word processing program.
