Sexual Assault Knowledge Test

1. The victims of rape are always women.

2. Sexual violence can be the victim’s fault if she dresses sexy, leads someone on, or says “no” when she really means “yes”.

3. The motive for rape is not the result of uncontrollable sexual urges. Rather, it is the need to gain a sense of power over the victim.

4. About 1 in 20 girls and 1 in 40 boys will become the victims of sexual violence by the time they turn 18.

5. If my child, or a child I know, was being sexually abused, she/he would tell me right away.

6. The victims of sexual violence are usually of the same race as their attacker.

7. Most sexual violence, including child sexual violence, is committed by strangers.

8. Acquaintance or date rape often involves alcohol.

9. The victims of sexual violence usually do not know their attacker.

10. Men are always the offenders and women are always the victims of sexual assault.

11. Rape usually occurs in a location unfamiliar to the victim.

12. In cases of child sexual assault, injuries are usually obvious and easy to see.

13. When a victim drops charges against their attacker, it means sexual assault did not occur.

14. Victims who were really raped are able to clearly remember the event in detail.

15. Fifty per cent of rapists are convicted.

16. College aged women are twice as likely to be sexually assaulted as other women.

17. Men and women are responsible for their actions and need to be sure consent is given freely without alcohol, drugs or coercion.
