KNB Scholarship

• Beasiswa Kemitraan Negara Berkembang (KNB Scholarship).

• Prestigious scholarship program offered by the government of Republic of Indonesia to selected applicants originating from developing countries.

• Managed by Ministry of Education, Culture, Research and Technology.

1,608 recipients since 2006 from 97 countries.

• Scholarships for Bachelor, Master and Doctorate degrees in wide range

of field of study.

KNB Scholarship Program Structure

Indonesian Language Training Program

A one academic year Indonesian Language (Bahasa) course is a compulsory. Lecture and thesis will be conducted in Bahasa. The Bahasa course will be provided by each University.

Preparatory Program

Preparatory program prior to the academic program will be arranged.

Academic Program

6 semesters for Doctorate degree program. Doctorate program by Research and Doctorate program by a combination of coursework and research.

4 semesters for Master degree program.

8 semesters for Bachelor degree program.

Requirement – Master degree

Max. age is 35 years old.

Hold a Bachelor degree (scanned degree certificate and academic transcripts in English).

TOEFL iBT min. 80, or IELTS min. 6.0 (the certificate must be obtained within the last 2 years).

Recommendation letter from the Indonesian Embassy or the Indonesian Consulate General.

Recommendation letter from employer/immediate supervisor.

Academic recommendation letter from previous schools.

Prove of citizenship (Official passport or personal ID).

Recommendation letter from employer/immediate supervisor.

Download the invitation letter from the KNB Scholarship website,

Submit all required documents (i.e. the invitation letter, passport, academic certificates and academic transcripts to the Indonesian Embassy or Indonesian Consulate to acquire the recommendation letter),

Complete the online application process,

Selection process, and

Selection results will be broadcasted online through the KNB Scholarship

Website and officially announced through the Indonesian Embassy publication

network.

Online application process must be completed no later than February 18th, 2023.

Selection result will be announced on the 1st week of June 2023.

Confirmation deadline is on July 23rd, 2023.

New KNB awardees are expected to arrive in Jakarta on second week July, 2023.

DAAD Scholarship

• German Academic Exchange Service (DAAD) supports well over 100,000 German and international students and researchers around the globe.

• Aim primarily at graduates, doctoral students and postdocs and are awarded for study and research visits to universities and non-

university research institutions in Germany.

• In some programmes, internships are also funded.

German Language Training Program

German language course (2 – 6 months) before the start of the study visit in Germany.

Participation in a language course is compulsory if the study programme is taught in German.

Depending on scholarship programme. Please read the call for applications for your chosen scholarship programme in the scholarship database, paying particular attention to

application deadlines.

DAAD scholarships do not have to be paid back.

They usually consist of a monthly scholarship payment (currently, for example, € 934 for graduates and € 1,200 for doctoral/PhD students).

Flat-rate travel allowance.

In many cases, DAAD also provides you with health, accident and personal liability insurances.

Depending on scholarship programme, additional benefits such as a one-off research allowance, family benefits or funds for language courses.

Requirement – Master degree: Development-Related Postgraduate Courses (EPOS)

Online application form

Full curriculum vitae in tabular form (max. 3 pages)

Hold a Bachelor or Diplom degree (normally four years) in a related subject.

Academic degree with far above average results (upper third).

Proof of at least two years of professional work experience and state their current work situation at the time of application.

His/her academic degrees should normally be no more than six years old.

Proof of adequate language skills, according to the regulations of the respective courses.

How to obtain PhD in Germany?

Individual doctorate

The individual doctorate is based on independent research carried out alone under the

supervision of one professor. This is the traditional path followed by over three quarters of all doctoral students in Germany.

Structured PhD programmes

These programmes offer a form of study similar to that found in English-speaking

countries. You will be supervised by a team and will attend courses, lectures and seminars

together with other doctoral students. Normally, such programmes are publicly advertised

and often feature grants or paid doctoral positions.

DAAD application forms are available on the DAAD website

Applications only have to be sent to the respective course directly!

Please refer to their respective websites for the application procedure (e.g. online

application), for the application deadline and the documents to be submitted. Applications sent to the DAAD will not be forwarded to the respective course/university.

Applicants who have been living in Germany for no more than 15 months at the time of the deadline for applications are also eligible to apply for a DAAD scholarship.

You can apply for up to three courses.

If applying to more than one course, please list courses in order of priority in the DAAD application forms and do not change the priorities in the according application form!

When applying > 1 courses, submit one motivation letter explaining why you are applying for these specific courses and why you chose that priority.

ADMISSION: The postgraduate course and/or the university decide on admission after considering of the application documents. Admission to the university is a prerequisite for receiving a DAAD scholarship. However, applicants do not need to request early or pre- admission to the university.

Please note: Selection process for all postgraduate courses listed in this booklet lasts from the end of October until March.
